They will take the measures necessary to implement the plans that have been agreed. For example, East Sussex County Council will salt 800 miles of road (out of the 2,000 miles of roads that the County Council is responsible for).

They concentrate on roads that are busier, especially during morning and evening rush hours; or lead to places such as hospitals, schools, ambulance and fire stations; or are main road bus routes (this does not include all roads used by buses in the county).

This means that most roads WON'T be salted.

If people expect EVERY road to be dealt with, they should have voted for councillors who were committed to increasing council tax to cover the costs. Don't blame the council now.

Don't be RIDICULOUS, Lord B.

I fully expect Friday's Argus to contain a Letters special, containing numerous furious missives demanding to know why their three-house private cul-de-sacs in Patcham weren't gritted (after all, one's Volvo can only be expected to tackle a certain degree of frostiness).
:p

Wednesday - sunny intervals - max temperature: 4°C min temperature: 3°C

Thursday - light rain - max temperature: 6°C min temperature: 5°C

Friday - cloudy - max temperature: 8°C min temperature: 5°C

Hardly looks like we'll be needing to dig out the snow on Thursday, and by the looks of it, we probably wont even need to grit the roads !

And you won't get a Stadium either :D

In the early 1920's the Prospect Film Company issued the following prospectus:

"The climatic conditions of Shoreham-by-Sea are particularly suitable, and peculiarly adapted for daylight production. Facing the south of the famous Downs the air is wonderfully clear, and quite free from fogs, and, as the studio is situated on a spot at least 50 miles away from any real smoke, a pure and clean light may be obtained, probably unrivalled by any other place in England. East and West of the studio are the towns of Brighton and Worthing. To the south is 70 miles of open sea, while to the north are situated the Downs famous in song and story, undoubtedly the Los Angleses of English production".
