I have many blues CDs but the best album by far is of live recordings of prison Chain gangs. Its mono and badly recorded but you can hear the stones being hit with pick axes behind the singing. Its mainly acapella of course but its raw and so full of emotion.
Also I love the very early Rolling Stones and when I saw them many years ago on the Bridges to Babylon tour, the highlight was when they walked across the bridge to a central stage and performed their early numbers with no light show etc.
My son is also called Hollis in part due to the song Ballad of Hollis Brown by Bob Dylan but better sung by Nina Simone. (also as its the lead singer of Talk Talk Mark Hollis but thats not as cool)
