It's not getting any better...

1. President Valeri Belokon has written an open letter in which he says the Oyston's have taken £35m out of the club over the last few years. He asks them to pay it back and to put the upcoming final parachute payment into an escrow account to only be used for footballing purposes. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ball-invest-final-parachute-payment-team.html

2. Their friendly with Alfreton Town has been called off, supposedly as Blackpool can't field a team. http://www.alfretontownfc.com/news/PROPOSED-BLACKPOOL-GAME-NOT-GOING-AHEAD-2441.htm

Uncle Dick started with nothing, not even a ground to play on. His Club always fielded a team.

I don't think the land value is that high in Blackpool, I doubt construction is his motivation. It looks as though he is creaming as much as he can before jumping ship.

It doesn't look as if he is investing his fortune into their training ground .

I'm not sure they will. It looks dire, and they'll be relegation fodder regardless, but there are enough unemployed footballers around to ensure that, come the opening day of the season, Blackpool will field a team and a few subs.

Pretty sure Pompey were in this position a couple of seasons back: going into the final week of the close season with about nine players. At that point, they picked up a few loans, and scooped up a bundle of guys who couldn't get contracts elsewhere but had been holding out just in case of offers from other clubs.

At the end of the day, if you're a footballer on the dole who needs to pay the mortgage, you either stay on the dole or you sign for Blackpool on a short term deal, where you can keep fit and there's a 50/50 chance of getting paid at the end of the month. You're going to take the Blackpool deal, aren't you?

I predict a team of players who've barely met and a bench of four substitutes

You are right. Not first time its happened, and Pompey 2 years ago wasn't first time either. Remember that legendary first game back in Brighton at With dean when we stuffed Mansfield 6-0? They were in exactly same position. Don't think half their players even knew each others names!

Is that a fact? I had no recollection of that at all. Here's me thinking it was our momentum and brilliance that created six goals, you've completely ruined that now :)

It would be hilarious if a non-league standard Blackpool side turned over Forest in their first game. Stranger things have happened.

Oh Gawd! That was not my intention. Anyway we were brilliant, my memory of that joyous day is unsullied by the fact that the team we were playing were a bunch of incompetent baboons. So should yours be!
