Blackpool: Cultural cul de sac?

Wasted an entire evening looking for decent accommodation, given up on the 'entertainment'! This is worse than I thought, a bag of chips and laughing at each others farts is about as cultural as it's going to get. To cap it all it's the first weekend of the school hols so it's going be packed. Next time I say 'I wonder what Blackpool's like this time of year' please stab me in the face. I hope we get promoted so we can visit some decent towns.

You'll be relieved to know that the appalling Norbreck Castle Hotel is fully sold out for the Friday night before the Albion game. I was about to recommend that you avoid it at all costs - unless, of course, you are genuinely interested in discovering the worst the British hotel industry is capable of.

Disagree. Southport is a nice little resort.

Much nicer than some of the shockers down south.

Margate ? Southend ? Even my birthplace Hastings.

As it goes just got back but didn't venture into town this time. The countryside round there reminds me of Kent.

Not Sussex though, nothing is up to that standard.

Things have got pretty f***ing dire when one considers weekending in Southport as a lucky turn up.

Southport is alright. Some lovely properties and golf courses in and around Ainsdale and Birkdale.

All the everton and Liverpool players (plus Hansen, Lawrenson, Dalglish) live in Southport, and I don't think they would live somewhere crap.

Some decent nightclubs and restaurants there too.

Despite the plug for Southport, we will however be staying in Blackpool. how bad can it be?

When I went to Blackpool, we went to a curry house, I was surprised that it was run by a local white couple (the writing was on the wall) they made us pay for it before eating it.

Blackpool is like the rest of the north, cold, wet, drab and full of whinging chain smoking northeners.

The only good thing about the north is the south!

So you'd rather be in Luton, Yeovil or Gillingham than York or Newcastle?

Had planned to go to Blackpool but gave up on the whole idea as people kept slagging off the area and it was £200 + to go by train. Plus could not find any where half decent to stay over. Will put my efforts into Wolves away instead.

A wise choice.

Wolverhampton is like Beverley Hills compared to Blackpool.
