And just for good measure, here's the ref:

"Unfortunately we've had to call the game off today," said the referee.

Easy 10 you should have also quoted the bizarre sentence from the ref just before "Unfortunately ...", which really is unfortunate:

"Match referee Robert Madley inspected the pitch at 12.15pm and declared it unsafe and unplayable, as he explained exclusively to Radio Rovers and Rovers Player."

No wonder I didn't hear the info on Radio 5 until about 1:30!

And by the way Accrington have just scored, so now 1-1!

For those already there & in need of a football fix, as of a few minutes ago, Accrington Stanley v Plymouth is still ON. Close to Blackburn.

Hopefully, we will never play them in a league game.

Yes,Accrington to Blackburn around 6 miles!

Must have better groundsmen there

Henning Berg:

"I'm very disappointed," the manager told Radio Rovers. "We have prepared for this game all week so of course we would have liked to have played. We looked at it as a good opportunity to win again and for it to be called off this early was even more disappointing. You would have liked them to hold on a bit longer to see if it stops raining then maybe it would be possible. Yes we know that at 12.30pm there was no chance for the game to be played, but you never know with the weather, even though the forecast was for there to be more rain this afternoon. I was hoping they could wait a little bit longer and make a decision a little bit later then maybe the game could have been on".

Yeah cheers Henning. Leave it till about 2.45 ideally to see if it could be played eh ? After all, that wouldn't inconvenience ANYONE would it. Oh, and "a good opportunity to win" is it ? We'll see about that, you gormless scandenavian TIT.

And just for good measure, here's the ref:

"Unfortunately we've had to call the game off today," said the referee. "I got a phone call on my way over from (football secretary) Ian Silvester saying there could be a potential issue so we've gone out and had a look. The forecast going forward is just rain for the full afternoon. There's standing water on the pitch already and there's really nowhere for it to go. The last thing we want to do is to call games off but for the safety of the players it is a decision we have had to make.

"We wanted a game of football, Brighton have come a long way to discover the game is off, but we due have a duty of care to the players, and the fans, in weather like this. It is a shame but it is the correct decision."

Right, so its been raining heavily pretty much everywhere for the last few days, more heavy rain was forcast overnight and all day today, but you left it till 12.15 to carry out pitch inspection.
Well done ref. Well done Rovers. Well done EVERYONE.

Blackburn secretary looks the one to blame leaving it until the ref was near the ground anyway rather than notify him 3 hours earlier when he got into work...

Bluddy joke today, 3 hours to get to London, then another 3 stood on a poxy overloaded Virgin shit heap to Preston only to find game off. After food in Manchester now on an empty Virgin spendolino to Euston. Just the fun of Southern back to Brighton too come.

Pedantic alert - It was only four thousand holes I believe.

And at least some of you got a magical mystery tour to Accrington. So not a completely hard day's night.

But I assume you enjoy riding trains? ???

Of course I do, but not when standing for 3 hours with 3 kids & mrs.

Still on virgin back to London & the delights of Southern to come. Roll on the Newcastle replay!

Was just pulling into Blackburn around 1230 when I heard it was called off. B****r. TBF the weather up there was pretty s**t and worse than anywhere else enroute but amazed that a Prem ground doesn't have better drainage. Curious that other local matches were still played. Yet the weather today didn't seem as bad as for a Lancashire v Sussex game we made a few years back and they even managed to get a few overs in after hard work by the ground staff and that wasn't roughty toughty football either.

The worse thing is the rearranged game will probably be midweek so a mega late night trip will so feel like a double punishment. Hopefully Rovers won't have discovered any form by then as I fancied us to do them today.

it's all a conspiracy theory....Blackburn had a big fall-out at their Christmas bunfight, culminating in the manager throwing his toys out of his pram. According to twitter, the sprinklers were left on overnight......and finally, India playing England at the same time in a crucial 20/20 game (had India won they would've been number 1 20/20 side)
Apart from Accrington Stanley being on 6 miles away, after all the wet stuff we've had down here, even Yeovil Town played !!!

Anyone who went today would probably have been a 'day tripper' with a 'ticket to ride'............

Blackburn certainly needed a little Help.

Nice 11 hour day.

Hope it's not going to be a mid week fixture. but more than likely will be.

Whilst eating a Maccy D's outside Ewood Park at 2pm my mate asked:
Are you more pissed off about the money or the time you've wasted?
Neither, I said, I more pissed off that I've not been entertained !!
