Fair play to the owners for a statement of intent. I'd presume they know theres minimal chance of him signing, as i'm sure City or another big spender would certainly be interested if wages are affordable for Blackburn, and are doing this to try and show the supporters that their serious about taking the club forward.
He'll go back to Brazil me thinks.

Blackburn have made a move for AC Milan playmaker Ronaldinho by offering him a deal worth about £20m over three years. "To be precise [it is] 7.6m euros (£6.5m) for the first year and about 8.5m euros (£7.2m) for the second and third years," confirmed Desai.

And Desai added: "The impression is I've never watched a football match. I've not watched in a stadium, but I have been watching the World Cup in India. I have watched hundreds of cricket matches but not live - it's all on TV. To say I don't have any knowledge would be wrong. I am a good listener".

Wow. So she watched the last World Cup on telly.
I think this Desai bint is full of shit, and is just enjoying her numerous high-profile quotes and interviews off the back of now owning a PL club and being able to throw names like Beckham and Ronaldinho around. Talk is very cheap, I don't quite see how signings such as this fit in with the £5m January transfer kitty they were talking about when they first bought the club.

Even if there was the remotest possibility of Ronaldinho actually going there, I would have serious reservations about him rolling his sleeves up for a midwinter relegation scrap which Blackburn have now undoubtedly got on their hands thanks to their ludicrous decision of binning Allardyce. It'll all end in tears.

Ronaldinho has been horse shit for the last season and a half, well out of shape too and enjoying the 'finer' things in life now. No big deal at all

Word broke on sunday (on the owner's twitter), the chairmen denied it yesterday, and today it was confirmed.

When they reported it on ssn they said blackburn had put in a bid for 6.2m, but have said they are willing to go higher.

Great negotiating skills there.

I am surprised she hasn't tried to sign Kevin Peterson...with her love of cricket!

Just on 5 live that Grenio have come in for him, are they Brazilian. If so then its a no brainer, that road leading off the motorway into Blackburn is right up there as one of the grimmest ever

Easy, Madame Desai knows the score. She is chairwoman of Venky chicken for crying out loud. Remember she was quoted saying with the 'right motivation' Blackburn can come '5th or 6th'. That is all they need, motivation. Oh and Ronaldinho.

Whenever I hear 'Venky Chicken', I see some sort of poultry (note the spelling redneb) concentration camp with many of the birds limping around in their own excrement. Needless to say, I shall not be investing in a Venky meal if I can help it.

Gremio were his first club i think. All these south american stars seem to want to go back home when they become shit. Smart money is on them.

Blackburn (or more specifically their new owners) really do seem to be making a concerted effort to become a bigger joke than Newcastle

They could spend that £20m on 2 or 3 players and would me be much better off. These owners seem the worst kind; they want to have fun with their new plaything and will soon realise that spending even £40m won't get them far unless it's used wisely.

They will promptly then stop funding the club, get bored and leave them in the shit.

Exactly.
I can't see Ronaldinho going to Blackburn either, especially with the interest from a Brazilian club.

The inevitable demise of football as we know it, I have pretty much watched the same happen to Rugby up here in Wales over the years, maybe not so much money but still very poor running of clubs by chairman / directors etc etc....these foreign money men are not wanted in football as far as i am concerned, but there is no stopping it now.

She does know they've bought a Football team and not a cricket one, yes ? If I was being an optimist, I would say it's nice to hear such good intentions, buying world reknown players and aiming for a top 4 or 5 position. However, they/she are either extremely naive or just deluded, not helped by this sort of statement. Presumably the bid for Ronaldino is meant to be some sort of statement of intent, but the player has been in decline for at least a year now, and has no hope of reaching anything like the heights he hit at his prime - if he signs, it would be for the money, and he presumably doesn't need that.

To achieve the aim of getting 4th or 5th - well, that's going to take an aweful lot more than £6.2m - you could put one zero on that for a start, and then double it. If you want to build something, start with a decent manager and back him. They need to make sure they stay in the division first, and getting rid of Alladyce has done nothing to ensure that.

It looks like a car-crash waiting to happen - or maybe it is happening now.
