This is an interesting resource. Found this last night when I was reminiscing. Some of the support acts were great back then: Cheap Trick supporting Crüe, Living Colour supporting Cheap Trick, Queensryche supporting Bon Jovi. Anthrax and Slayer. Ratt and Ozzy. I used to go to Hammersmith Odeon often, looking at this website I never realised how intense some of my gigging was as a teen.

We clearly went to a lot of the same gigs!

I have such fond memories of the mid-80 to late 80s and being a teen. I had a small group of friends and we went to so many rock and metal concerts in Brighton but mainly in London. Donington was an annual trip as well, on a coach from Brighton. Shades record store before the gig.

I have spoken with @thedonkeycentrehalf who also went to many of the same gigs before we know each other. This ignited something which has stuck with me; whilst I now encompass many other music genres, I still max out on live shows and still see the occasional rock/metal band. How could you ever tire of seeing Maiden for example?

I didn't realise you were another on those coaches from Brighton to Donington - did that for 87, 88 and 90 having first been to Donington in 86 for Ozzy on the back of my Uncle's motorbike. Did you also get the coach for Deep Purple at Knebworth? A very wet day and we had to try and push the coach out of the mud when we finally escaped the coach park in the early hours of the morning.

Shades was awesome a heavy metal Mecca. I shall be seeing Maiden in Vienna this summer, they are Iron effing Maiden FFS!
I did Donington from 1984-88 and then again in 1991, it was brilliant. Only been to one Download but it was weird that I was camping inside the track where the old stage used to be.

Deep Purple at Knebworth was a soggy one! Still remember poor old Meatloaf getting bottled whilst he was performing with one leg in a cast!

I just looked at the line-ups and went to Donny in '85 (went to stay with a friend at uni and he drove) but '86, '87 and '88 was coach from Brighton. I did not go to Purple at Knebworth, that was on the Perfect Stangers album I think......a return to form!

Maiden for me in June at West Ham's London Stadium. Not keen on stadium gigs but I think Maiden are on the home straight so was keen for this one. Will be 25th time I've seen them.
