they

were awesome and it was thankfully really loud - but the O2: dreadful acoustics, bass was just an inpenetrable rumble and charlie could have been playing anything. now wondering what Prince may be like as can't imagine it'll be as loud.

Having seen the Stones on every tour for the past 30 odd years - starting in 1976 at Earls Court I refused to go last time they were round and this time too.
Why ? Well when I can go to a festival in the States, get back stage hospitality and three days of entertainment for the same price as 2 and a bit hours of the Rolling Stones I know what i consider to be better value. I heard a tape from Murrayfield on the last tour and, to be honest, I thought it was crap. I love the Stones but was embarrassed to listen to this - bum notes and off key playing when you've been doing it for 40 years is not a good sign.

their

ticket prices are ridiculous i agree but then i got < half price ones off ebay at last minute so it was worth every penny. as for bum notes, on thursday (from what i could hear clearly ie- vocals and keith's and ronnies geetars) they hardly put a foot wrong and blew away most contemporary bands i've seen play live. truly amazing for a bunch of geriatrics.

Thats about right. They seemed pretty tight to me. 116 quid might be a bit on the steep side I suppose but I think they are worth it.

To be honest though the whole London experience seems pricey to me but what the f*** its another memory made for all those years in the rest home coming later.

You lucky git. Wanted to go to that but couldn't get there :(

Met a guy on East India station who had a pair going spare for a ton. Bet he would have taken 70/80 for them.

I hope for everyone's sake that they were better than the Chili Peppers last night at Leeds. About as entertaining as watching my stools float.

I wish mine would float. I`ve tried everything short of eating polystyrene.

Oh well half price ain't TOO bad then. Read some good reviews of them though most of them concentrated on how Keef lit up on stage (where do they get these people from ?
Are the acoustics that bad as I am hoping to see Springsteen there in December IF the rumours are true. Mind you Earls Court in 1976 was, putting it mildly, "muddy". The best I ever saw them was at Knebworth later that year - utterly superb - I believe there is a DVD of this which I am actively seeking out.

we were on the 4th tier block 418 last row of the £100 tixs. view was good (as it's only 22,000 capacity i think). other people we spoke to afterwards said the sound on the lower levels was fantastic. in the upper echelons it sounded very much like rehearsals in an empty warehouse. and there was definately an echo early on on mick's vocals. but as my ears soon adjusted and it was proper rock n roll LOUD (unlike many outdoor and/or arena shows) it was still very enjoyable. :eek:where did you hear the springsteen rumours?!: would love to see him again. saw him solo at the albert hall so would now love to see him do a big band show (but none of that seegar rubbish). could be good at the O2 if it's loud again (better than wembley or twix at least). O2 was really easy to get out of anyway - straight onto the clipper along the thames to london bridge for £2.50.

I say old bean. Could you clarify whether you are referring to El Presidentes floating stools, the Red Hot Chili Peppers or the Rolling Stones.?

Thanks awfully.
