This isn't going as planned.

Whilst I didn't expect anyone to agree with me (and I'll also highlight I've bought nothing today), I was hoping someone clued up on TVs would have pointed me in the direction of something good by now.

Richer sounds, London road, brighton is the answer you seek

Brighton factually.....
I had saved several items in my basket on Amazon and waited until today to order, I opened my account up and stupidly expected a few messages telling me that a few items might have been reduced. I was slightly miffed, but thought I would just copy and paste the items and look again at them, sure enough a few of them were cheaper, but it did not transfer the savings to the same items in my basket, so I simply deleted them and placed them back in at cheaper deals. I only changed one item to a what I considered a good deal on a bluetooth speaker for my daughter, over all I probably saved about a few quid on about 8 items as presents, but not much.

The pre - black friday deals they had on amazon about three weeks ago seemed funnily enough better.
I did buy a nice Albion fleece and training kit for my daughter, not a great saving but enough for a new mug for me, which is apt don't ya think...

Pressure is not the word, expectations and subliminal coercion is the only deal going on.

Promised myself I wouldn't cave in this year....caved in on the first offer of Adidas Spezials that came my way ffs

Ah now trainers, that's another story. I'm barred from getting any more for a while as the shoe cupboard is overflowing so I'm not even looking.......

Plus the last pair I bought were Overkill / Consortium ZX10000s so the less said about the cost the better.

Not really. I have just bought a replacement office chair to replace my current one which is past its best and with a broken wheel so perhaps BF triggered me to do it today instead of pontificating on it further.

I also (genuinely) need one of these soon - what did you go for?

No pressure although I have just taken a quick look at a couple of items I knew the price of and neither has changed

I have a mate who runs a business supplying office furniture and especially ones for home use as well.

Let me know if you want me to send you his details.

We're in the middle of kitting out our new house at the minute, and we do 'need' quite a lot of stuff (electrical stuff like TVs, soundbars, coffee machines etc.) however I've consciously taken the decision not to get panicky about missing out on great deals and will take a casual look over a beer tonight when I'm done working.

If there are some good deals to be had at that point, great, if not I will rest easy in the knowledge that I haven't panic bought a candy floss machine I don't need and will never use, for no other reason than it had 40% off.

Agreed. TBH there will still be plenty of deals in the months to come. Like you, I tend to wait and get a good deal on something I actually want rather than compromise on something I don’t.

Thanks - 58" is bigger than I want. We currently have a humble 40", so I was thinking 50" tops, although you don't pay much more for the same models in 55" variants it seems.

55" OLED all day long. My LG 55B9PLA only draw back is when we're watching a wildlife programme in 4k, we have to secure the dog to stop him running into the screen to chase the animals!!

Bought my last 2 main TVs from Richer Sounds in Sheffield. Superb service and prices. It's great to go into a shop where people actually know what they're on about AND get a bargain.

"Actually, don't bother with that one that's £80 more mate as it's actually worse. Look, I'll show you......"

Was the same bloke working there about ten years after I got the first one from them as well. Plus the guy who came out and fitted the wall bracket / stand / soundbar and hooked it all up to the Xbox / Sky etc was a diamond. Had to come back a couple of times with different optic leads and wall coverings and didn't charge any extra.

I will always go back.

Whilst I didn't expect anyone to agree with me (and I'll also highlight I've bought nothing today), I was hoping someone clued up on TVs would have pointed me in the direction of something good by now.

Our 5 year old TV went wrong in September. After a lot of thinking about whether to go with a Samsung QLED (more expensive) or a Samsung Crystal UHD I opted for the cheaper UE55TU8500 from Richer Sounds (buy from Richer Sounds and you get a whopping 6 year warranty).

At the time that was the top end of the Crystal TV range and was £699. As ever prices come down and they now have the Q60 (QLED) version available today for £699. (https://www.richersounds.com/tv-projectors/all-tvs/samsung-qe55q60t.html)

Very happy with it, Smart TV has improved a lot over the last few years and now has Apple TV, BBC Sounds apps as well as the obvious others like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, ITV, Channel 4, BT Sport etc etc. Plus it includes Airplay so you can send content from your iPhone and iPad to the TV as well.

So should cover all your Albion viewing needs in this busy December period.

Obviously size and model are up to you and your budget.

I've recycled a few and worn some out, can't dip below 30 or I have a panic attack :eek:

The voice of sanity.

There is no way I will ever go back to work in an office ever again so all my work shirts, ties, and suits went to the chariteeeee shop..., doing great work for chariteeee although I don’t like to talk about it ....... had a real clear out.

I haven’t taken to slob about in Jimmy jams though...still got to keep some decorum.:smile::smile:

Couldn't give a shit about Black Friday.

I feel anxious because of the lack of sunlight, covid-19 everywhere and the end of November is grim. I'm a suffererer of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Even though subconsciously I'm aware of it, I have to be kind to myself at this time of year.

Let's get into January, the vaccine all sorted out, the days getting longer and pray for a much happier new year to everyone in the world.
