Bizarre NSC Banner Ads

They're nothing to do with browsing history. I keep getting ads for cars/motor insurance (I don't drive); Florida holidays (I've not searched for any holidays or anything to do with Florida) and mature dating (I'm not single and not looking). NSC certainly has a bizarre collection

They are not solely down to browsing history, but it is definitely a factor - it's a combination of that and page content.

I just got one for a company that makes custom lightsabers. I've not searched for anything related to that, but now I'm interested!

I thought Bozza had it set to not display these nutty religious adverts?

It's interesting for a while I got bombarded with buy tickets at the AMEX, these seem to have disappeared now, so wonder if the club have stopped using these now.

Back to the normal ones now, and they definitely reflect what you've been browsing. I was looking for a wood saw once, then came on NSC and B&Q bombarded me with wood saw choices!

As a Google adserver myself the bad news is, yes they do relate to the cookies on your PC, but if the cookies are cleared then they have nothing to go on so will go on content/page history. Equally if they have nothing relevant to your cookies (most recent first) then they will serve stuff related to the page content/history or you will get random content, if they really get stuck you get charity advertising.

This is why I often get pictures of ladies with little on as my wife goes looking at underwear in Debenhams!

How about when one is browsing using the 'Ahem' in private function.

Just curious.

Indeed - it's not just your browsing history but also page content.

So, researching former Albion player Mark McCammon would be the reason that this appeared then.

My adds reflect the sites I have visited concerning my love of animals and cakes.

Cougars and cream pies mmm.

Hmmmm?

I seem to get a variety of ads offering to make me rich at online casino's or offering me tickets for Ellie Goulding.

Too much time spent on leisure activity rather than constructive meaningful work stuff?

But as I said, I don't drive, nor does my wife (who is very rarely on this PC anyway) so there's no way that anything we search for would bring up ads for cars, motor insurance or diesel fuel (which I got just now) and those are easily the most common ads I get. Nor would my wife search for mature women! The person who uses this PC most, apart from me, is my son but as he's 8, I can't see him looking for ads for cars or mature women.
What I search for mainly is information on IT, specifically cloud computing, but I don't get any ads for cloud providers.

As you say, if there's nothing relevant to my cookies then I will get served random stuff - which is what I said in the first place

Having just written that, I did get served an ad for a cloud company so perhaps the ads are served by what's written on the forum rather than browsing history.
