Bit of a poor Parade turn out really.

Didn't feel like that from the cheap seats. Felt more like 3,000-4,000 tops.

I'm with you THPP, 5,000 on the streets at that time of day would have been a good turnout, having met the lady from SSN at Hove Town Hall I can see where they got the 20,000 estimate.

Speaking of EastEnders, a group of other fans walking back in front of us spotted Whitney from EastEnders. They grabbed her and were singing "Whitney is a Seagull, Whitney is a Seagull lala la la"

What does that even mean?

I think the numbers are hard to judge as you have to account for the attendance along the whole route. Many walked with the parade, but many saw it start but didn't go to the end. There may have been 5k in Madeira, but many had waited there, while many turned out simply to watch the buses go past. I thought it was a great atmosphere and decent turnout. If it had started at 2pm it would probably have been double the number...

There was an event on Maderia Drive mid afternoon.

No doubt there was a reason for 530pm and I'm not really complaining. Not sure I get the people criticising the turnout though, especially the ones who weren't even there!

It' just that with all this JCL talk and 16000 season ticket holders 4000 odd to welcome the team to Brighton and Hove with its near 500,000 population is a little embarrasing.

Thought the turn out was pretty good (we've just won the 3rd Div remember, not Europe). Mrs.Joe and I walked along from Hove with the bus and there were loads of people who turned out along the route but didn't follow the procession. Bearing in mind the timing there were more people than I expected. All good fun. Favourite moment was seeing a grinning Elphick joining in with the anti-Palace songs, including a hearfelt rendition of the "wash your mouth my son...." classic.

We went and enjoyed it. Say about 5,000?

The end of season was diluted over a very long period, with the promotion and then crowned CHAMPIONS so remarkably early. The celebrations / other happy occasions like the GullysGang Day, Dagenham (home), Walsall (away), Notts County (away) .... were spread unlike say a singular event cup final win.

Perhaps the 5:30 to 7:30 time on a Sunday WAS TOO LATE for many people with younger kids, or longer journies within the Littlehampton-Horsham-Eastbourne-Hastings catchment.

Agreed. The effect of being champions had already worn off for many people.

100% true. Unless you had the day off today, getting down to Brighton for that time is a little bit of an ask for people who live elsewhere in Sussex. I remember going to the last parade and it being mid-morning, which was a lot more reasonable. I had to go back to uni yesterday but if the parade had have been in the morning, I might have detoured their first. To be fair though, like you said, we've had a lot of celebrating to do, and inadvertently yesterday was meant to be for people living in the Brighton area, so I'd say 5000ish is a pretty decent turnout.

No doubt about it, the numbers were very poor. BBC reckoned there were over 200,000 on southsea common after Pompey won the cup and bankrupted themselves in the process a couple of years ago.
