I happens every time. Spurs, west ham it's always the same, people get excited. At least there shouldn't be quite the same level of binfestery once tickets are released, given the extra distance and the bigger capacity

I can't believe what I'm reading.

We get drawn against one of the top teams in the country in one of the top stadiums in the country. What kind of reaction did you expect? Thats what happens when a big game comes along. In addition to this, the inverted snobbery of some people on here may be even further damaged when the new stadium comes along, because some of the people who only turn up to the big games are going to be needed if we are going to fill it. Personally I am incredibly excited at the prospect of 6,000 singing Albion fans at Villa Park, regardless of the result. So should you be.

A sensible reaction would be nice. I.e. For people to be pleasd, but to wait until nearer the game, after ticket issues and match times have been sorted until people get excited, rather than people jizzing themselves silly about what's really a pretty meaningless game (other than being a good money spinner for the club).

Of course, it was never going to happen, as there's so many tools waiting for a big game to come along.

Yes, these fans are needed at Falmer. However, it would be nice if they got a grip over the realities of a fairly meaningless cup game that we'll probably lose, and remembered that we're currently in a relegation battle. If we come off worse in it, we could be in League 2 at Falmer, something that would be far more costly than the police scheduling the Villa Game for a Sunday, or for the Costa coaches to fill up before they are able to book a seat.

Thats fair enough, of course the poor people at the ticket office are going to get inundated with the same questions constantly for the next couple of days. But as I said, thats just the way it is with cup ties. In terms of the game itself, as I get pathetically excited about every away game I go to, I'm afraid I can't see this as meaningless :lolol:

It shouldn't be though, but sadly some of our supporters don't have much common sense when it comes to things like this.

the fact that you keep describing it as a meaningless game makes me wonder why you bother with football, and the albion, at all.

The only embarrassing thing is your spelling Withdean Whinger!!

As others have pointed out, if it wasnt for these "big game charlies" what the hell would be the point of Falmer!!! The 14 year battle we are near the end of will culminate in us becoming a bigger club (like it or not).

Us Gillingham era season ticket holders dont have exclusive right to this club.

Go watch Crawley if you want to wear the badge of the loyal few.

i agree with you for once also.

Good thread, big time charlies going for there once a year trip just because of the opposition.

IMO there is nothing more important than staying up this year perhaps they should spend there hard earned cash backing the boys in the league.

This one isn't for me.

I dont understand the " super snob fans" who think they are a member of some exclusive country club - and think no one is allowed to go or show any interest in a poxy football match unless they went on the pre season tour of Kazabyzambizi

Hang all those excited about an FA CUP game away at a club chasing a top 4 finish in the PREMIER LEAGUE. It's a disgrace. We should have been tutting at that draw and moaning that it means travelling ALL the way up to Birmingham and moaning it's another game of shitty little Brighton and all their shitty little players we like to criticise and moan about endlessly, that we now have to go and watch. We should all be cursing Crofts for scoring the goal, and we should be bloody FURIOUS that we even entered into the FA Cup! What were we thinking.

Jesus. All these happy people must REALLY piss off you off, WW.

All that said, my thoughts are with the ticket office staff who are indeed going to have to put up with people insisting they deserve a ticket for showing no loyalty to the team whatsoever. The answer is simples. Priority as usual and then pay on the day for the rest of the allocation not gobbled up.

Me thinks Withdean Wanderer needs to chill out, and whilst doing so could he get me the number for the ticket office, I'll be straight on the phone tomorrow, for my cup ticket.
:p

Given the tosh that is written on here about all and sundry (how many posts WW?) I find it rich that anyone can complain about activity relating to an ACTUAL Brighton game against a TOP SIX club! FFS.

Dear WW
Can i have a full list of when we can get excited? IMO playing one of the best teams in your country is what football (& the F.A cup) is all about when you support a team like Brighton.

I bet you sat at home being angry at the Leeds fans for cheering so loud :tantrum:

Walsall is a far more important game and pretty much identical for travel. I assume we will take at least 2000 there.

I'll be there, cheering on my beloved Albion!

you absolute joiyless individual. villa park, my favourite ground in the country, aston villa, 5th (or somewhere close without looking) in one of the best leagues in the world. a (maybe slim) chance of seeing Agbonlahor, Carew, Milner, Friedel, etc, up against the albions finest, and you get all upset because people want to talk about it.

lets be honest, you just wanted to point out to everyone that you go every week and are therefore far better than people who just fancy going to villa park for the day.

well im afraid i will be going and i havent been to an away game for a few years. hope thats ok with you.

I see what you mean WW BUT frankly it's going to be a great day out, a chance to go to a new ground for many (including me), the outside chance of a shock, and most importantly from my point of view the chance for some of the younger supporters to taste a big game atmosphere and hold their heads up in the playground next to their plastic premiership supporting mates.
