Or the player (any player) properly throws their toys out the pram and refuses to play. Not great professionalism, but it has happened in the past to force a move.

But you are right, any bids of the big three (Biss, White, Lamptey) are going to cost the buying clubs some serious dough

I hope Biss stays with us for a long time . If he does end up going to a so called big team , I doubt whether the club would entertain offers below £50m - if he keeps improving, he’s worth every penny .

Some odd logic going on in this thread. Any club considering an offer for Bissouma is going to look at the fact that we turned down a £25m offer for a player that had never kicked a ball in the Premier League and realise that they're going to have to really go large for a player that is dominating PL midfields every week (as well as scoring the occasional thunderbastard).

They're not going to think that a 10m fee we accepted as a Championship club 7 years ago represents our benchmark. And anyway the record fee is £15m, for a player we deemed surplus to requirements and sold to a Championship team.

I can't see Bissouma wanting to play any where else to be honest.
I get the feeling all the players feel like they are at a club that is going places and I believe Bissouma is the kind of guy that would like to be a part of that.
I think there is a genuine appreciation of potter and how the club is run here.

Disagree, we need to sell players this summer and Bissuma will be the first to go for big money. We'll get 40m minimum

I think you underestimate our transfer dealings as we’ve not ‘lost’ anyone we don’t want to in years... if there’s an offer we can’t stand in the way of and the player wants to go, it’ll be huge if it’s Biss or Lamptey etc.

Strangely we have pretty decent cover for Lamptey at the moment - different style but Veltman has been pretty good.

Bissouma however is a special type of player , yesterday demonstrated it, his holding and breakup work and release of the ball allowed Tross, Mac and Gross to do their thing.

Someone earlier said he was the best player on pitch but not MOTM , I understand that because the way the others actually stepped.

It’s been clear for years we’ve had a quality player on our hands, I remember talking to my dad about him at the beginning of last season, and he was moaning about him
I reminded him he’s still young and you can see he’s the only player who wants to carry the ball and move it quickly and it’s hard when your team isn’t up to the same pace
The great thing about him is, he clearly knows he’ll be sold in the future but isn’t sulking and is just playing his game, which is glorious to watch.

Assuming we stay up, next season will need us to be looking up the table not down.
Potter will be expected to be making progress, with a squad of highly rated Premier League players.

We won't get there by selling players like Bissouma, White and MacAllister.
If Man City/or United offer £60m and are guaranteeing first team football, we probably wouldn't stand in his way..
But he won't be going anywhere for £30-£40m IMO.

It’s funny how some fans, clearly have their hearts in the right place, but at the slightest sniff of interest in one of our players are eager and happy to accept the first low ball bid. I was amazed by this with the Ben White situation in the summer, and now with Biss.

Guys. We’re not in the Championship anymore. Tony Bloom is a business man. Of course we won’t stand in anyone’s way, but they have to pay fair market value.

Not desperate at all. We'll sell some of our best players and replace them from the development squad and eventually sell the best of those too. And rinse and repeat. That I am sure is the long term sustainability project.

To this day I don’t understand in what world you could rate Dale Stephens over a young Bissouma. I notice they’re quiet now.

But Hughton would just not change the midfield. Always Dale and Proper every bloody game.

Even in Potters first season I had quite a few angry posters here lay into me because I dared say Dale and Proper weren’t good enough and Biss should be starting every game. To this day I don’t understand in what world you could rate Dale Stephens over a young Bissouma. I notice they’re quiet now.

Bissouma was a liability when he first joined us, he didn't work as hard enough as he is now, positionally was fairly suss and would often be found out of position or gave the ball away far to often. Again as a young player in a new country he has found his feet and is now reaching his potential with us. Lets not re-write history that Biss was the ready made player he is now and should have been playing every game.

Bissouma needed that time to develop. Potter didn't play him much in his first half season, just like Hughton, but clearly the work was done on the training ground and then bang. I didn't really see it coming, but obviously in hindsight the club knew he was special to spend 10 million on him, he wasn't one of the many cheaper signings we hope come good. He wasn't ready to be a regular early on and the club has developed him very well.

Nothing a 10% signing on fee and a 100-200% pay rise can't sort out.

Possibly,but biss only has to look at how things have turned out for his mate Pepe at arsenal.
We joked at the time about biss getting Pepe to sign for us instead but now I wouldn't be surprised if Pepe wished he was with us now.
Times are changing, sensible players should be more wary of big money deals with the rich clubs unless of course all they are interested in is big money and not the football.
