Put it this way - I've lived in Birmingham (as those of you that know Birmingham will realise from my username) for 13 years now...... and I'm more than ready to move out...

Bar 52 degrees north is pretty superb. Bar 260 has banging tunes all afternoon. Apart from that its pretty average. There's as many bars in the city centre as there are in Reading, which doesn't really bode well for a place that is meant to be England's 2nd city.

The student area is pretty crap, Selly Oak and the like. Just a boring place in general. And the way they talk... god help me!

Don't worry 'bout it, Wilts... absolutely no need to be  - I agree with you!!!

And yes, as for the way they talk - summed up by this:

What's the difference between a 747 and a plane load of Brummie passengers?

Well at least you can stop the 747 from whining...

:lolol:

I moved to Birmingham, Well Solihull actually (or so-Lee-Hull as the ''posh'' locals like to call it), In 1997. This is about 8 miles outside of Birmingham probably the equivalent in distance of Brighton - Lewes. Birmingham is a hole which I have visited about 10-15 times in 7 years becuase I found the place so depressingly ugly I've tried to avoid it.

Everyone else I know whose moved here cant stand the place either (see Selly oak above!) but talk to a Brummie and they think the area is Beverley Hills & Las Vegas all rolled into one. I've had hours of fun at work telling them what I think of the place.

As for the accent I've said that I will move away if I adopt any trace of it.
