To be fair, the owners do have a scooby. They have spent £20m already renovating the stadium that was falling apart, purchased land nearby that might be part of plans for a new stadium, set up a charity to give every kid in care in the city a Xmas present for starters, renovated the training ground, set up forums to properly engage with the fans for the first time in 20 years etc etc

However the managerial change is the one that gets the headlines and splits opinion.

They had lost about 5 in a row on the road under Eustace and although they were 6th on the back of 2 home wins it was a bit of a false position as it was only about 3 points above 14th iirc. Rooney? Not sure, but time will tell. The table is very tight though and even 17th is only about 9 points off the play offs, nothing that a good run of results wouldn’t put right. Rooney won’t have much to spend until the summer due to financial fair play (something else the previous owners ignored) but he does have a good run of winnable fixtures coming up.

I wonder where he will turn up next? And he will turn up somewhere despite showing little in the way of managerial ability.

He didn’t win any of the winnable fixtures. Leeds away followed and the away support were calling for him to go throughout the game. Those who were giving him the benefit of the doubt finally lost patience. When you lose the backing of the away support, which was about 3,000 strong, it’s the point of no return.

Again, that’s so harsh. They have had sh*t owners for 15 years. Many clubs have been in that position, you can criticise the ownership but the whole club?
Rephrase it then, they have had basket case owners, know a few blues fans ( have a soft spot for them ) great club terrible owners

Is he going to give up (probable) payments from Chelsea for a job he’ll probably keep for less than three months? The man is not a fool

You’d have to have run out of managerial options to take that poisoned chalice on.
It seems like a poisoned chalice but could equally be a great move for someone to succeed in, the new appointee will have a lot of goodwill from day 1 by simply not being Rooney

They were doing pretty well when they sacked Eustace weren’t they? Time is not something I see anyone getting in that job

Dodgy tie up with Gary Cook who is CEO of Birmingham.

He was trying to buy Derby, and when he wasn’t successful Rooney resigned from there as well.

Is he going to give up a secure and great job at Brighton for a job he’ll probably keep for less than three months? The man is not a fool

You’d have to have run out of managerial options to take that poisoned chalice on.
Apart from the reference to the payments, all of that could be about his move from Brighton to Chelsea.

My prediction: United sack Ten Hag and appoint Potter, who spends a few weeks teaching the players how not to score goals. Then he's sacked and the board appoint Rooney as caretaker, with hilarious results.

I'm basically rooting for a re-run of Chelsea last season.
I'm not sure they need Potter to teach them that! Only Sheffield United (20) and Burnley (15) have scored less PL goals this season than Manchester United (22)
