To be fair as the squad stands at the moment the league 1 squad was definitely better. Hopefully that will change in the next 2 weeks.

No, it wasn't.

The league one first choice 11 had several players who would go straight into this team. The actual squad though was paper thin.

Our current squad is three players short of being comfortable mid table(10th-14th) and 5 or 6 short of challenging for the play offs. It's disappointing to be in this position after being so close to promotion for two seasons running but there's no need for hyperbolic over reactions.

Buckley fouled twice on his Sunderland debut. 2-2 at the Hawthorns.

Chicksen does a good cross that is too high in the last seconds. If we had scored that is what promotion clubs do.

FT 1-0 defeat.

If we had won the home game, I would not have minded so much. That's the automatics gone now.

I tempted to think Birmingham are not very good either.

Jesus H Christ, automatic promotion gone after 2 games. You always post drivel but this is some of your best yet.

It's been a pretty awful start to the season but to say we are out of the race for automatic promotion with 44 games to go is quite frankly brain dead. Reading won the title in the 2011/12 season after losing 4 of their first 6 games and only picking up 5 wins in their first 17 games leaving them 18 points off first place, so the fact we are currently 6 pts adrift means nothing at this stage of the season..

Crofts can't come back quick enough.

Hope Toko hurries up and gets fit (or Hyypia starts playing him) which will then release Ince from playing that holding role (which I presume he played today) and allow him to drive on more

WA very sensible comments about Premiership wages to fans.

Conclusion:
Players will have to come from:

1) abroad
2) lower leagues
3) Premiership youngsters
4) Championship players with good technique and pace and off form so a little bit cheaper

TV money has made this inevitable, but it has w always been like that to a certain extent.

Starting Bruno, Ince and Caskey in midfield was asking for trouble....obviously we didn't have much choice.

I'm feeling really gutted. I'm sure we'll get some bodies in soon which will lift us but its painful at the moment.

I'm also worried about Hyypia, if we haven't got the players capable of playing his system yet, is it not asking for trouble playing defenders so far up the pitch? In short, we're in a right old mess.
