Quite. Opinions very split among Fulham fans about this. Our strikers have been crap this season, but a very big fee received for someone who has played hardly any first team football.Thank you Bluenoses, for giving those cocky sheep-shagging bàstards a good seeing to tonight.Always lovely to see James McClean lose.
What a striker they have in Jay Stansfield, still only 21. Fulham were mad to let him go!

Watched the game and great atmosphere at St Andrews with sell out crowd of 30k. Things looking good for Brum City.
Unless Fulham thought they had a player like Evan Ferguson who was guaranteed to hold his own in the Premier League, there was no way they were turning down £10-11 million quid with 4 unremarkable Premier League appearances to his name. I doubt even the big clubs in the Championship would have paid that for him.
At worst, Fulham will end up like Albion's Viktor Gyokeres situation - where after a couple of years he might prove better than anticipated. Until then, Fulham been well compensated and are also no longer paying the wages of someone who is not a first team Premier League player.
How do you feel about this season in general?
Looking at the Fulham squad (and some Fulham football) it looks like you're going to have a very boring season, way too good to end up bottom 3 and anywhere near good enough to make top 10.
Second oldest squad in the league, filled with once promising players who all failed repeatedly to really make their mark in the PL. Most of them won't get any better.
I have nothing at all against Fulham but I'd be pretty unhappy if I was a Fulham fan tbh, seems there's very little direction.

Great result last night in front of a big crowd.
Not looking like a great move for Marc Leonard - one of the best midfielders in League 1 last season, Championship clubs queueing up to sign him, and now he's not an automatic choice in a League 1 team. Still can't believe we sold him so cheaply.
Hope this wasn't an agent lead chase-the-money move for the lad.

Good question, and some interesting analysis. Most Fulham fans I know are very pleased with the transfers in, Emile Smith Rowe and Joachim Andersen in particular. ESR is a very promising player who needs game time. Andersen is a good replacement for Diop. Last season's acquisitions (Iwobi, Bassey in particular) have made themselves guaranteed starters and Marco Silva has a knack of getting the best out of players who 'haven't made their mark in the PL.'
The 3 big concerns are that
1) we've not replaced Palhinha's interceptions (who could)
2) playing Pereira deeper isn't the answer - he is a very frustrating player, capable of great passes but a mediocre deadball 'specialist'. Silva will never drop him, though.
3) our strikers haven't hit their stride yet.
I think Marco Silva said his target is a top 10 finish and a good cup run. That's the direction on the pitch. I'd be very happy with that. Off the pitch the club is putting a lot of effort into making the new stand a source of income all year round. It's not quite there yet. Our academy and U21s are doing well and we've got more Jay Stansfield 's coming through.
Personal targets for me are to finish above one or all of C*****a, Kew Bridge and the Albion (!) and 17th or above.

Even my Villa supporting relative will admit that Birmingham City are a HUGE football club and the very epitome of a sleeping giant. When St Andrews is rocking there really is nowhere else in the country quite like it. I fancy they will romp the league and then with forward momentum and massive funds available do back to back promotions next season.

I'd be happy to see Birmingham in the PL. It would ruffle a few over-smug claret and blue feathers and give me a good excuse to go to Brum again.

Last night's game showed the difference between a club who has been in League 2 and looking to develop quickly and a club dropping from a higher division capable of spending a lot more money. How many times did Birmingham break the League 1 transfer record in the summer? 2 or 3 I think - and Stansfield up front cost north of £10m which is bonkers at that level. Birmingham have been in a position to spend crazy money and have. Hopefully they get their wings clipped but the squad is fantastic for that level. Winning the league would be par for that squad.

Surprised their ground is able to hold nearly 28k, have they renovated it? My memory when last there, Texeira was playing for us so a while ago, it reminded me of the Goldstone in how run down it was.
Anyway delighted for them, I have a nauseous feel for the love for bloody Wrexham in the media

With plans for a much bigger new stadium, I believe. These owners seem to mean business. I’m not sure at what point I’ll start hating them but for the moment I’m still in 'nice to see a fine old club getting a lucky break at last' mode.Surprised their ground is able to hold nearly 28k, have they renovated it? Birmingham was the first BIG club I saw Brighton play at. Very quiet and unremarkable till they scored then WOW this is a big club the noise was surprising the whole ground roared. Cup game they won 3-0. Possibly the 80s?
They have renovated the whole stadium, spending about £15m in the summer on top of opening the previously closed lower tiers on 2 sides. That’s despite announcing plans for the new stadium where they want to be in 5 years time with a site that is 10 times the size of the site St Andrew’s is on. These new US owners mean business. They may not get everything right but the long term future is bright there after the club had been left to rot under the 2 previous hated Chinese owners.

Birmingham City ranks among me favourite away days. Just the right distance and I've always had an historical connection with the city dating back to the 1980s. Probably the place outside of Brighton I have spent the most nights in. Happy to see them doing well. I wouldn't call them a 'sleeping giant' though- one major trophy in 60 years. I suppose a comparable team would be one of the Sheffield sides.
