The next thing for him to prove, is that he can play well in a different type of game. One where we're being suffocated by a physical midfield. Can he stand up in those matches? Can he win those individual duels?

The bit of skill he does in the build up to the second goal is brilliant. It completely bamboozles the Wolves midfielder who’s stood there arms out wondering what the hell just happened while Billy rolls the ball to Enciso and we go on and score.

I was really surprised at a number on here just writing off Billy. He was immense today, on the back of incredibly little prior game time. He's 21, an International, and if Alexis and or Moises go in the summer, he'll be needed here. And if they don't leave he's shown he can be safely rotated in to rest them. No?

I agree. And whilst 'one swallow doesn't make a summer' I am now WAY more relaxed about Mac leaving than I was a few days ago.

This kind of, almost, works in Japanese too. Or at least in my crap, grammatically incorrect Japanese.

俳句は何だ (haiku ha nan da/what is a haiku?)
日本の詩ですか(nihon no uta desu ka/is it japanese poetry?)
長い歩？(nagai aruku?/is it a long walk?)

I'm quite proud of that. However if any of our new, actual Japanese fans read it they might(almost definitely will) disabuse me of my pride. For a start the last line is actually 6 syllables but two in how it's pronounced in my mangled japanese.

Edit: just realised the way I've written it is 6-8-6. So I'm less proud than I was.

The problem is you didn't think. You listened to the NSC mindless moron armchair critics looking for players to belittle and put down. Neither player has had a huge lot of game time. Furthermore, different players develop over different time periods and aren't necessarily wired to give punters the instant gratification they so desperately want. Everyone deserves a chance and neither player had really been given a proper sustained chance. I hope they are coming good, to silence all the arseholes who have been taking cheap shots at Undav in particular.

I still find it odd that he has seemingly been nowhere near getting on the pitch and then RDZ puts him straight in to one of - if not the - most important position on the pitch.

Interesting afternoon at one of the National Trust's top attractions.

This bloke came up to me and said "Hello, I'm Das" something, and the next thing I recall is waking up 15 minutes later with a broken nose and two black eyes.

He’s had several months of intense coaching whilst waiting for game time………looked a different player.

I have to say RDZ's management of Gilmour does appear to be a bit strange. There seems to have been loads of games when he brought subs on and Gilmour wasn't one of them. I think it's been said on here lots of times that RDZ didn't appear to rate Gilmour and that's how it looked to me. I thought before Saturday that Ayari was above him in the centre midfield pecking order.

This is not a criticism of RDZ. Clearly he knows best and I've no idea what goes on in training or in RDZ's head. I'm just curious as to what the process was that lead to Gilmour going from a rarely/almost never used sub to starting (even allowing for the fact that MacAllister and Caicedo needed a rest). RDZ said he made a mistake with Gilmour and maybe he just had a bit of blind spot with him.

A lot of the team fell off a cliff emotionally and physically at Forest in the second half. De Zerbi starts a (not so young for us) fresh and mustard-keen Gilmour against a footballing Wolves side. The zen bit was starting the game without any of our headline acts. Now THAT did send a message to the squad, lazy pundits and us/fans.

Yeh maybe. MacAllister seemed to come on from the bench and gradually get more playing time. Gilmour never seemed to get on as a sub but maybe my memory's wrong on that. I did wonder that perhaps it was a positive reflection on Gilmour, with RDZ trusting his "mentality", knowing he didn't need to bring him on for the odd 10-15 minutes to get him used to playing matches/keep him sharp and to keep him positive mentally. Maybe he knows BG can handle sitting on the bench and can be relied on when needed.
