Our midfielders have a profile of needing to be VERY comfortable on the ball and VERY good at retaining possession in tight positions. He fits that profile. I see him as Lallana’s successor rather than Moises’s…..hopefully!

Exactly - highly technical player

Listen again to the context. He said that he'd like to play mostly every game in response to the question:

"Billy, if we're sitting here a year from now, how would you hope that your first year has gone? What would you like to have acheived in that time?"

He also said that he'd like to make a name for himself in the team, settle and enjoy his football again. Nothing Billy Big-Bollo about that, he is just saying what success for him would look like.

You can’t change the preconceptions of those that spend their lives looking for something to be negative about…….

Personally thought he came across well in that interview, and very obvious the ‘group’ and how we look after younger players is influencing more to think about coming here.

With Liverpool allegedly sniffiing around Caicdeo and the WC coming up in months, does this feel a bit like succession planning? we had Mwepu and Caicedo knowing pretty well Biss would be off.

Barber OUT seemed to suggest the player wouldnt leave in this window (as who could insta replace him with Biss gone). Hopefully more as cover for the ever crocked Lallana, and Gilmour is more of physical stature of Ali Mac, but does this have a whiff of potential Caicedo 50m exit plan in January/next summer?

£50m? Which part of Caicedo are they planning to sell?

Something I’ve noticed about him is how two footed he is. Much like Caicedo. That means playing on the left of the central three would be no problem at all (we were rumoured to be after Ilic to sort this issue a few months ago). That of course frees up Caicedo to be the central midfield destroyer and Mac to sit further up the pitch on the right. Plenty of other options though.

I'm genuinely excited by this signing and am very grateful to Norwich for putting his development on pause, bringing us into the equation.

Hopefully Billy will stay for a long time and eventually become the manager of the Women's team so we can watch Gilmour's Girls in action...

When I wake up, well I know he's gonna be,
He's gonna be the man who brings 3 points to you

And I would roll 500 miles
And I would roll 500 more
Just to be the fan who rolls a thousand miles
To see Bill-y Gil-more

I have to admit, this could be an epic signing. I'm excited to see him in the stripes (sorry stripe!) and hope he does
really well.

im really pleased by this signing he and Welbeck and world class performers and we are lucky to have them in our team. The reason he wasnt so great at Norwhich is more about the hopeless players around him - at Brighton he will only be surrounded by skillful ability to link up at the price we got him an absolute bargain.
