Hart has just come back from a calf injury. It was his first match.

Thought it was a reasonably abject performance from a mainly young XI.

Very little to encourage me, however it was a predominantly youth team. Hart was probably the most energetic and accomplished experienced player.

Oatway was notably off the pace- which despite this being the beginning of his return was a little surprising against Ryman league opposition.

Thought Fraser looked dependable, and was I think harshly done for his yellow card. As usual the opposition players reaction making it out to be worse than it in fact was.

Gatting and the combination of Elders/ Savage was always going to struggle with little or no penetrative service from the largely pedestrian midfield. Strikers chances limited to their own creations, which again could have been finished off with some more aplomb.

Will look forward to a much more settled and competitive team trying to get back somewhere to its best throughout the coming season.

He did'nt help himself by running about 20 yards towards the incident, with a look like Mike Tyson has, when he is going in for the kill :catfight:

I also think Billericay gave a very good account of themselves, there number 12 was very good

High up on the South Downs.
I was impressed by Chamberlain. He is going to be a classy midfielder.

Oatway was dire. You have to admire his bravery and determination but I doubt whether he'll play league football again.

Also thought Pearson looked very solid when he came on.

Fraser upset the Billericay fans.

I hope you're right (in terms of Brighton at leat) but there are a lot of people clamouring for Oatway's return. I wish I knew why.

Because we need a player of his ability, everyone deserves a chance. Was it just a coincidence that our form went through the floor as soon as he got injured?

Charlie has a lot of passion and commitment for the club but his positional sense, vision and skill on the ball are simply not good enough (in my view) for League 1. I do wish him well though and I'd like to see him continue to be involved with the club in some way.

So he doesn't deserve another chance then?

I guess everyone deserves another chance but his underlying ability won't have changed - that's the problem I have with Charlie's return. We should be looking forward not backwards.
