Two days ago Darragh MacAnthony, a wealthy property developer, started the process to buy the FC from Fuckwit Fry. He has been trying to buy a Football League club and saw the series on Sky 1.
Yes I know we're probably shaking hands with the devil, but I would take almost anything to get rid of our fat leech

'A 30k all-seater stadium and Premiership football in ten years' he says.
Excuse me but
I know you were all distracted by events in Essex, but the new Chairman was punching the air like a real fan when we scored against Everton last night.

But it was still TOP entertainment, you must admit.London Irish said:Pathetic stuff really and Bleasdale is quite right to be upset about the effect that the programme has had on his reputation.
The charity golf day auction (organised by Ron) brought in about £25k to the club. And one of the businessmen who turned up then put £50k into Peterboroughs youth scheme. After the Peterborough physio walked, he brought in some other physio, a mate of his, who was apparently quite good. And he instroduced the revolutionary concept of a "goalkeeping coach" to the club (as opposed to the 1st team and reserve goalie trotting off to the other end of the training ground and taking potshots at each other).bigc said:plus the narration was saying all the good things ron had done.
wtf exactly DID ron do?
Nope, there was nothing about there being a lack of goalkeeping coach for "financial reasons". It seemed that it just hadn't really occurred to Bleasedale. Anyway, the show was ALWAYS going to try to paint Ron as some kind of "saviour" wunnit. Take it with a pinch of salt. It was just a hugely enjoyable piece of car-crash television.bigc said:well they would have had a goalkeeping coach but didn;t they say they had axed them for financial reasons?
Well here's the thing...Easy 10 said:Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Strikes me that London Road is a PRIME slab of real estate. A huge area of land (what with the ground and the large carpark), only a stones throw from the town centre, easy road access. Sounds like a property developers wet dream.
Yes we got £75k plus £100k from Sky.Easy 10 said:The charity golf day auction (organised by Ron) brought in about £25k to the club. Absolutely right with that analysis. There was no way Stefan Moore was joining Posh.London Irish said:Bleasdale was stitched up by Sky something rotten. Earlier in the series, it showed him as some kind of loon turning down the chance of signing Stefan Moore in favour of some non-league striker, with Atkinson the hero having almost negotiated Moore's signing.
The facts were that Moore wanted £4k a week and Fry had already told Bleasdale that he couldn'd afford that (not shown by Sky cameras).
Pathetic stuff really and Bleasdale is quite right to be upset about the effect that the programme has had on his reputation.
Sure, but who's to say you'd have gone up anyway ? I don't think you can blame it all ENTIRELY on Ron, Sky and Fry. You had a limited squad, an inexperienced coach who seemed to struggle to get his ideas across, and who was regularly falling out with players (something we're all sadly familiar with). A run of form put you in the playoffs, but plenty of teams have stumbled when trying to maintain that.Reading Posh said:Yes we got £75k plus £100k from Sky.
I think Fuckwit Fry also mentioned that promotion, or lack of it, would cost the club £500k? You do the maths.

You'll obviously know more about the ins and outs than me, but from an outsider looking in, it didn't look to me like Peterborough had a manager or team capable of going up.
Yeah, amazing that!Easy 10 said:Nope, there was nothing about there being a lack of goalkeeping coach for "financial reasons".
