No one was doubting you Nibble, just an excuse to be childish and poke a bit of fun to kill a bit of time!

I know. I know. Some days I take it all too seriously. Pity me, for the day is young!:)

Some days I can be a dick. I promise when it first started there was a big pillar of black smoke, otherwise I would have assumed it was a chimney or something. From that photo it looks like someone lit a pipe.

Might be someone firing up their backup generator or something....we work next door to the NHS building in DUrrington and every now and then they fire up some generator to test it and you'd think their whole roof was on fire....we have to close our windows for fear of not being able to see who's sitting next to you....it sort of dwindles away after 10 minutes or so and then its sort of like a stinky diesel engine for a few hours as they run it and then they turn it off only to be repeated in a few months time!!

This is the first oficial picture of the blaze from the Argus. As you can see, I wasn't making it up....

This has to be one of the worst threads of all time on NSC, utter toilet and I should know after inventing North Stand Chat Arms.

I personally think it is genious and many decades from now it will be bounced by future NSC posters who will realise the brilliance of the thread

The fire, I'm told, was in a building in Prince Allbert St that has recently been aquired by Karis who are involved with the King Alfred development

My source did not comment on any black plume of smoke

Watching from the third floor of the police station in John St, I will back up Nibble's claim that for the first 10 mins it was thick black smoke. :bigwave:

And I'm not in the vicinity - so it's not one of mine.

Oh, and HB&B, do you recognise where that is? Which one is your house?
Sorry I was at work in The City at this time...........I can't play shops all day.
