In 1991 the call centre in Manchester Street was selected for closure on operational costs being much higher than the call centre I transferred to (leasehold building v peppercorn rent in BT owned building , agency wages of £6.50 ph v agency wages of £3.60 ph in Grimsby). I left on March 31st 2003. The following day BT introduced new procedures and guidelines such as closing the loophole of returning to work for BT as an agency worker and opting in for HR to send out references , none of which was relayed to us taking voluntary redundancy before we left.
