It was a pretty unremarkable game on a dull afternoon. Maybe we were favourites, to some, but we were having a poor time and Newcastle were riding high in the division below and building the foundations of a really good team of youngsters and older stars.
They had Keegan, McDermott, Beardsley & Waddle, to name a few.We were fortunate to get away with a draw and a midweek replay at a packed St James didn't look promising but Albions class showed, they took a hammering and had a seasons worth of luck as the woodwork saved us many a time & every decision went our way.
For the few that made that journey, the replay surely is up there as one of our greatest every games and, to top it all, we had the company of the great Peter Ward on our supporters club coach as we gave him a lift to Derby. Back home in Brighton at about 7.00am!
