What does the bookie do with fractions... for example 21.6666 from the first bet?

Do you round it up/down and then calculate the 2nd bet? or put the fraction (to how many decimal places?) on the 2nd bet and then round the final result up/down??
No decimals involved in traditional odds and calculations...

If my first bet was 100/30 my 5p would become 21.666p

What would the my stake for the 2nd bet be?
return from 100/30 and 3/1 is calculated as 130/30 x 4/1 x stake (£1 returns £17.33)

20/1 and 20/21
Yes. Well done. "8 years working in a bookies" gave you a bit of an advantage..!!

It is, as has been reasonably demonstrated here, a decent "teaser" for the average punter.

Only because 20/21 is a ridiculous answer. Never seen John McCririck tic-tac'ing that one on the Racing Line... 'on the shoulders' 'double carpet' etc... :nono:

Is the answer to this extremely annoying question 1/1000 and 40/1
Honourable mention for a clever answer but not sure how many traditional bookie shop bets have ever been made at 1/1000 .... :)
