A couple of closed minds on this thread. I couldn't be described as a Williams fan but that is a great film.
Confession time.
I have seen Robbie Williams live 5 times now.
Mrs LLF is a big fan,so I get dragged along to watch him, man hath no greater love, and all that.
I was also press ganged into going to the Dome in Worthing to ‘watch’ the film, on the same night we played Villa away.
My review?
I thought it was a good game, we looked to be getting back to our best, but, I didn’t really like having to watch on my phone with the sound turned down, but, needs must.
The film?
The 15 minutes I watched at halftime was surprisingly enjoyable, not as good as the Freddie Mercury film, but better than the Elton one, IMO.
Having watched RW over the last 15 or so years, his last show, in Hyde Park in the Summer was his best, he has definitely improved in nearly every respect.
P.S Getting Roddy McDowall to play the lead was a stroke of genius, even at his age, no one does Chimpanzees quite as well.

I did find it quite depressing and hard going. I feel like their is another film about his life in the ether. One that shows the more positive side of things. I mean that there must have been some good times too.
Better Man 2 could be a retelling with all the fun bits.

As someone who cinemas a lot, I loved it. I’d genuinely say it’s an 8 or 9 out of 10 (for its genre).
Watched the Bob Dylan one last night, in comparison, and whilst it’s well acted, it’s too long and no where near as self aware, dropping it more into the 6 or 7/10 range.

An absolute guilty pleasure for me.
His album "I've Been Expecting you" came out when I was about 12 so it just takes me back to Top Of The Pops, family car journeys etc.
Does he have the greatest voice ever? Nah. But there are some excellent pop tunes in there. I like Karma Killer

I get the impression he always wanted to be an "Entertainer " in the old style hence all the references to Sinatra...but, true Entertainers don't mess up their ability to perform by being drunk and off their faces on Coke and swearing and trashing everything around them.... he came from nothing ,achieved it all, f***ed it up and had to do it again.. he's a bit of a knob.
That is a really good album, as a 16 year old massive Oasis fan when it came out in 1998, I had to hide my love for it at the time but there are some brilliant tunes on it. As you say, Karma Killer is great but so is Man Machine, Grace, Phoenix from the Flames and Win Some, Lose Some. I actually prefer the album tracks on that album to the singles that were released like Strong, She's the One and Millenium. No Regrets was a great tune though, made better by the presence of the Pet Shop Boys.
I am surprised by the fact that you're four years younger than me though with your amazing taste in and incredible knowledge of 90's pop tunes that fit modern footballer names, I thought we had to be the same age!
I've seen Williams live about 5/6 times over the years and I've always enjoyed the shows. I like Robbie, there I've said it!
