Sounds lovely yes please!!

Ok - I couldn't find the recipe - but after consulting he who cooks in our house - here it is:

Quickly saute a few cloves of garlic in loads of olive oil, be careful not to burn them..Chop brussels sprouts in half, and place them face down in the oil/garlic mixture and saute til they are golden. Remove from the heat and place in bowl. Put in some seeded mustard (depends on how strong you want it) and mash the whole lot with potato masher. The recipe says to put grated parmesan over the top... I love it that way, by hubbies not so keen, so we serve it then, and you can cheese yourself if you like....

Alternatively sauting your Sprouts with bacon is also delicious!

I had the best sprouts the other day at Due South, they were possibly the almost the best item on the plate.

I asked how they were done and the answer was add double cream and bits of bacon. They were also quite small sprouts, cut in half.

I'm going to try it as the taste was amazing.

Indeed - thats also a delicious way to cook them!!

Best roasties need to be part boiled first, then shaken vigorously in a collander or sieve to get them fluffy, then shove them in a pre-heated baking tray with melted goose fat in the bottom.

This is THE definitive way to make the nicest potatoes. You have to be sure of getting decent potatoes to start with however so it pays to shop around.

As for the Sprouts, I'd say don't bother

Exactly what he said, word for word.

We had a pre xmas dinner last night with my mums side of the family before she heads to france and we had a goose. We now have enough goose fat for about a years worth of perfect roasties :)

Saute eh? I think I'll just try frying them instead, I don't hold with these foreign methods of cooking!!
