Best value places to eat out?

Went to Carlucchio's last night, near the jubilee library. Ordered Ravioli, and when it arrived, there were about 8 bits of ravioli on the plate. That was it. Cost me £6.50 for the pleasure as well. Went to Grubs on the way back and got a burger and large chips for half the price.

So, it brings me to this question - which places in Brighton have the best quantity and quality of food for a low price?

For a cheap night out me and the missus always go to Pinnochios in New Road, you can get a 2-course for £6-95 or a 3-course for £8-95 on a Sat eve, (Cheaper in the week)

Very nice Pizza/pasta, and very friendly staff.

There's nothing wrong with Italian restaurants... when they give you a decent amount of food for your money

Avoid Opposition at all costs. Dodgy food and dodgy bill adding up.

Thats just the thing though. They'll serve up some insipid pasta shells, cover it in cheese sauce, chuck a sprig of parsley on top, and charge you the thick end of a tenner for it.

They don't even trust you to do yer own PARMESAN

NEVER GO TO AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT.

Wrong - La Fiorentina..opposite Norfolk Square is the best Italian restaurant in Brighton & Hove. it has been there under the same owners for over 20 years and the food is fantastic as are the portions.

Me & Mrs Supaseagull often have an evening here and the good thing is that it is a WHOLE evening and not 2 sittings.

However, word of warning, if you don't like smoking then wait until the smoking ban comes into force as they still allow smoking throughout. Although, being an ex-smoker, it doesn't get up your nose in in your eyes like some places can.
