Hicks may have been very clever, very influential and ahead of his time, but he rarely actually MADE ME LAUGH, which is the MAIN job of a comedian, for me.

Funny i have exactly the same experience with Roy Chubby Brown. Also when you write in caps lock do you shout at the same time?

Team Minchin! Although judging by the response on the thread so far i'm not expecting him to progress.

My case for him is he puts across intelligent points in a funny and unusual way and is incredibly talented rather than 'lets just point out stuff that happens to people' brigade of comics. I get that people may find his act a bit 'preachy' but you know what you're getting with Minchin, if you want quick one-liners and gags you see Milton Jones or Tim Vine, for funny discussions and songs about faith and science look no further than Tim Minchin.

I'll put a vid in to help his case hopefully. Vote Minchin!

f***ing hell, Lee Mack is beating Richard Pryor and Tim Minchin has got some votes (I don't know what a 'Stewart Francis' is but will have to check him out just in case he is any good, which I doubt ...... and I can sort of kind of half maybe see why someone could favour Dylan Moran maybe, perhaps)

BUT some of you people are clearly complete f***ing idiots
COMPLETE f***ing IDIOTS

f*** me gently with a club hammer

Are people mistaking Lee Mack's mildly musing turns on various t.v panel shows for stand up? His stand up is SHIT.

Shame I saw the nominations too late. I would have nominated early Eddie Murphy.

Only know Richard Pryor so he gets my vote. Isn't Dylan Moran the guy that got caught stealing a book and putting hit down his pants by Hugh Grant in Notting Hill?

I saw Bill Hicks' first ever UK show at the East Wing; still the finest stand-up performance I've ever seen. He did all of his material as he wanted to try it out on a UK audience for the first time and gauge the reaction. 3 and three quarter hours with just a 10 minute break in the middle, and all of it electrifying.

I truly believe he had more to say that Lee Mack

But how can you say that the man is razor sharp? "Red sky at night Angel delight, red sky in the morning Angel delight" The man is a colossus, in the world of stand up.

Who on EARTH put Pryor and Hicks in the same group? They are two of only about four who deserve to even be taking part...

My wife picking bits of paper at random, is who.
