In the absence of home made veggie soup with plenty of pearly barley stuff thrown in, the next best is Heinz Tomato. Always cheering, never pretentious and particularly nice with some crusty bread and butter to dip in it.

Er, I'm sorry but if nobody mentions Mulligatawny soon I'm gonna burst like a bally balloon ...

Tom Yam Gai is as equally as good in a zesty, spicy kind of way:thumbsup:

French onion soup is a goon's soup.

Traditionally onion soup was eaten by workers in Les Halles market in Paris in the early hours of the morning. Until a few years back some of the orginal cafes would still serve it, thick and full of melted cheese and great on a cold winter's day.

Would also go along with clam chowder and would add a lush and spicy soup served in Vietnamese restaurants in France called Soupe Tonkinoise
