God only knows, which imo is not only the best song by the Beach Boys, but possibly the greatest song ever.

That point of view would apparently be backed up by Paul McCartney, but if that's true I'm not sure.
I heard Brian Wilson say that, but I don't think I'd trust too much he has to say. He probably meant Paul McCarthy the former hostage.

Paul McCartney did indeed state that... he also bought all his children a copy of my avatar as he felt they needed musically educating.. hence my signature

If you haven't done so already, listen to the updated version of 'Good Vibrations' on Brian Wilson's 'Smile' album. Awesome though the original was, this new version actually beats it by a reasonable distance.

Me, I'm torn between 'Little Girl I Once Knew' and 'Let Him Run Wild'. So I'll plump for 'Do It Again' :)

'Cottonfields' is my fave when driving.

But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
I’ll make you so sure about it

God only knows what I’d be without you

If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me

God only knows what I’d be without you"

Yeah that version is actually what Brian Wilson originally had in mind (with the hum-be-dum bits at the end etc.).. I have the original 1966 demos at home and it does add something to it...

Also like the updated Heroes & Villains on the new Smile album
