I like Tony Livesey and can't stand Nihal Arthanayake (you're a spurs fan, you should have mentioned and 40 year olds shouldn't be calling people 'Dude', you're 52 FFS).

For me it would be 606 with Danny Baker and Danny Kelly. When they were at their peak it was absolutely hilarious.

Can’t stand that Nihal guy and his whiney obsessions. It’s years since I worked from home and had 5Live on most of the day but I used to like Nicky Campbell, Simon Mayo, Richard Bacon et al. Mayo and Campbell are probably the most consummate 'professionals' for that style of conversational radio. I listen to R4 more these days where you don’t have the same sort of presenters. But for news, Evan Davis takes some beating.

Agreed. Danny Baker one of the best and most original radio presenters I’ve come across but I didn’t think it worth the risk of mentioning him now that he’s been cancelled by our moral guardians. The original 606 with Baker was groundbreaking.

Sadly, the late, great Ray Moore passed long ago.

Back when Talk Radio first launched in 1995 I recall Dr David Starkey doing one of those phone in type shows where members of the public are encouraged to help debate the topical issues of the day. Starkey isn't everyone's cup of tea but it was hilarious listening to him pull apart the half baked ideas of the people that tend to phone to voice their opinion.

I've found it fascinating listening to Tony Blackburn and Jonny Walker about Pirate Radio .

One of the main bugbears I have with Nihal is his insistence on telling g me the time is eg forty-one minutes past two - that’s nineteen minutes to three in my world or 2.42 if you must!

On the main point, Terry Wogan was brilliant - his relaxed style and gentle banter with Boggy, Deadly and his long time producer whose name escapes me suited my drive to work superbly at the time.
I also made a point of listening to Danny Baker and the sausage sandwich game plus lots of football related nonsense.
I actually thought Steve Wright was excellent although I know not everyone agrees.
Currently I like Rachel Burden, Nicky Campbell, James o’Brien but probably Chappers and the Tony Livesey/Clare McDonnell Drivetime show would be my faves
