Really?

Could be a nice little earner for somebody considering Phoenix Brewery Halls is across the road and home to 300 students.
Yup. Yours for £120,000 for the remainder of the lease (which only has three years to go).

Oh, and the Rose Hill Tavern is up for sale as well. £110,000 for the remaining eight years of the lease. Turnover must be pretty good for there, because at that price, because the rent is excessively high.

The Geese. It's alright but I haven't been in there since they have a bit of a renovation to attract the hundreds of students that live two minutes walk away.....

is there room for 100's of people in that place?

The best bangers'n'mash deal is in the Sudeley Arms in Kemp Town: bags of choice (mustard mash, horseradish mash etc etc), beautiful sausages and incredibly good value.

Rings a bell, where is it?

One road down from the Royal Sussex towards the seafront, Sudely Street. I think it used to be called something else.

It's my 'local'. Lots of regulars and a decent pool table and jukebox ensure it brings in the youngsters (like me!) as well.

Good little pub.

You have to take the pub ambience into account also and that pub is jst a big testosterone-fest.

Also, always seems to be filled with Man U and Chelsea fans

Where's the Rose Hill Tavern?

I'm in the process of choosing a new local after mine got ruined by a new landlord who has f***ed it right up by putting Red Hot Chilli Peppers on repeat over the stereo. Cue mass exodus of customers. The place will be shut within 6 months.

Crying shame too as I loved that place.

I am toying with either the Walmer or the Hanover as my new pub of residence

The Rose Hill Tavern is on Rose Hill Terrace which is between the Level and Preston Circus.

The Hanover isn't really a local pub IMO, it's too fancy and too dark. Of the two you have mentioned I'd opt for the Walmer because of their choice of lage and the quality of their pizza.

Have you considered No Name?

It used to be the Sudeley Arms, it's now the St George, and it's owned by Zel. Untypically for them, one of the first things they did was to change the name.

The Rose Hill Tavern is in Rose Hill Terrace, between Preston Circus and the Level.

No name the fancy bar on St James' St?? Surely not, that place is a bit upmarket for me.

I want somewhere dingy and accepting of loners wanting to read their papers without fear of children or shit music spoiling things.

Nah, the one at the top of Southover. Decent pub, decent enoguh food and a tv that shows the footie but it never gets too busy because of it.

Oh I know the one, on the road parallel to Islingword Street (also a top pub street).

Never been in there but perhaps I shall give it a try. In fact there's shitloads round there, I might just do a pub crawl of the lot next time I have a day off and then decide on which one is the one for me

Good plan. Other notables are the Dover Castle and the Sir Charles Napier though I find the Napier a bit suffocating.
