Best programme for removing malware etc..

After trying to watch the Spurs/Man Utd game online yesterday, I think my PC got infected with some malware, apparently.

Some crap basic Windows firewall warns me about Win.Netsky.32q or something like that, but offers no protection against it. Firefox and Internet Explorer continually crash and when I try and get it, the bugger has tried to hijack my start page and make me download a certain security programme.

Bloody AVG doesn't seem to think anything is wrong and I've downloaded AdAware from Lavasoft again which doesn't seem to remove the problem. I can get round it by using an alternate login on the system BUT I want to remove th fucker.

Has anybody here tried Avast? That is free virus protection.

I have some freeware that is excellent, not sure of the website where it came from but PM me and i'll e-mail over the zipped file
