Best Premier League Team of All Time

Yes, it's a Daily Mail link so some might not like it, but they have an article on the best players in each position for the greatest Premier League team of all time.

Somehow they've missed Gus Poyet from the list of greatest midfielders, but still - anyone care to venture their team (and whether the Mail have missed any obvious candidates). I think I need to have a good think about mine first!

"Roy Keane was a manager’s dream"

Did this make anyone else laugh out loud?

Yup, good team player, that Roy. Never caused a fuss or gave his opinion on anything.

Meopham, Kent.
Looking at the teams NSCers have posted above, it makes me wonder, just how much the influx of foreigners HAVE improved the game really, seeing as everyone is coming up with predominantly British players.

That's the position where I really had to weigh it up.

I openly admit Ronaldo is PHENOMENAL and was for United before he moved.

But to me, he was not a right winger. A right winger doesn't score tap ins from 2 yards and score headers from 6.
Beckham, to me, was THE right midfielder of the prem years. He was the best crosser of the ball it has seen and basically made it impossible for the likes of Van N and Cole to not score.

He pips Ronaldo on the basis that he actually played in that position (picky, i know)

Fair enough.

He was THAT good though that I'd stick him in somewhere.

When you say 'Premier League', I assume you're referring to the FA's half-baked idea to bollocks up the running of football further than it could ever have been on the back of the pipe dream which somehow included the advancement of the national side, grass roots and a National Academy?

Because apart from that the Premier League is little more than an exercise in charm-free marketing, over-ambition, under-achievement and failed promises. Except for players' wallets, agents, businessmen, international crooks and other assorted leeches, that is.

So I'll go for...

Shilton

Neale
Moore
Hughes
Cooper

Coppell
Charlton (R)
Bell
Matthews

Greaves
Lineker

Yep, that's the one.

Which makes your following team incorrect.

Sorry.

You could argue that the greatest "Team" would have to be Arsenal's invincibles.

Again - love him or loathe him, Ashley Cole has to be in it.
