I voted for Griffin just because it would sure shake the rest of the politicians out of their dreamstate. Someone needs to make them realise if they don't stop thinking only of their own interests, a disaster like Griffin could really happen. I would like to think that if he were ever to win the Queen might refuse to ask him to form a government and then something brown would really hit the fan.

Shall we go through these. I'm no expert so please enlighten me

The BNP’s policy is to:

- Deport all the two million plus who are here illegally;

Government policy, tory policy, so no difference.

- Deport all those who commit crimes and whose original nationality was not British;

Is also done in cases where we know they will get the same sentence overseas and we have a reciprocal agreement; or we have an agreement with that country for them to keep British criminals in their jails.

- Review all recent grants of residence or citizenship to ensure they are still appropriate;

I'd be surprised if the courts would allow retrospective reviews; unless such reviews are permitted within the current law, in which case this is also current policy

- Offer generous grants to those of foreign descent resident here who wish to leave permanently;

Thats a new policy, and is one I imagine a lot of immigrants would be delighted with.

- Stop all new immigration except for exceptional cases;

Is also current policy. Depends how you define 'exceptional' I suppose

- Reject all asylum seekers who passed safe countries on their way to Britain.

Also current policy; except we agree to share asylum seekers within Europe because quirks of geography mean some countries are closer to the asylum seekers homeland.

Ultimately its just the bluster of a minority party. I expect them to get a few seats, would be interesting to see if the Tories need them to hold a coalition.

I don't think anyone can really disagree with these policies, after all they are shared by most of the parties, with a couple of exceptions. What most of us are worried about of course, is that, if in government, these policies would be pursued with a zeal not seen since the days of Hitler (hello Godwin's law) by a bunch of thinly-disguised racists feeding off public disappointment in politics and a financial downturn. It wouldn't be pretty.

On the other hand, I wish the government and civil service would do more to ensure that immigration policies are followed. I don't bash asylum seekers because most are genuine. But if an application is rejected they should be deported, not just allowed to disappear into the ether. The Tories aren't the answer because they believe in less government, not more, so there would be even fewer staff to deal with the problem.

but I digress, back to kicking out the niggers.......
this is typical of the way that any debate on immigration is stifled with over the top statements, I'm sure people realise that I have very strong views on immigration but I happen to believe that griffin and the bnp would be an unmitigated disaster for this country,however I hope and pray that they displace margaret hodge in barking or have some success elsewhere , if only to give the main parties a shake.

Don't know if you saw his appearance on question time recently, but he was certainly made to look a grade 'A' numpty

No he wasnt. He was just bullied rather than being allowed to air is views and show everyone if he is a facist. Instead he got sympathy and more followers. Well done BBC, fell right into that one.

I just think he is an all round disgrace of a human with horrifically skewed views of what the people of this country want/need. He has no poise when he is speaking, he just goes on about how everyone is telling lies about him.

Then I agree with you (well, except for the BNP getting a seat). I also have firm views on immigration that are far more right-wing than my general politics, but my feeling is that the way this is dealt with is by following existing laws and policies much more rigorously. Asylum seekers should be repatriated if they fail a fair review of their case; we should get more support from the rest of Europe in preventing economic migrants reaching the UK. Perhaps we can also come up with a system of tax breaks for companies employing UK workers rather than overseas (i.e. european) workers - although this would probably fall foul of EU laws - at the least we should have a decent registration system for EU workers so that employers can't get away with paying them cash-in-hand below the minimum wage; and better investigation of companies employing overseas workers - its not rocket science which industries and parts of the country these are based in

Unfortunately, as with much of the civil service; the departments that handle these issues are inefficient and not doing their job properly.

At this point our politics will differ and I'll say that the Tories are not the answer, what with their spending cuts; freeze on employment within the civil service; abandoning development of database's etc., all of which will serve to make the problem worse instead of better. At the end of the day customs and border control are overrun and can't cope with existing resources.

and just to return to my snarky comment about 'back to kicking out the niggers' - its because most supporters of the BNP, of which there appear several on this thread, aren't bothered about current immigration so much as bashing those UK citizens with brown or black skin. Where the hell does that get us as a country? just further divided, and further bigoted (on both sides)

freezing employment for planned but non-existant projects and inititive wont make anything worse. not spending on massive unwieldy computer system that people in the in industry (except those pitching it to the relevent minister) do nothing except pour money in to a pit. if they were supposed to be efficency savings from IT projects that would be included in thier budgets and you'd expect to a net reduction, or the X project costing 0. all government spend is a cost and there are very little ways of increasing effcieny other than removing or cutting back project and services. the trick is to identify those parts of a service which dont actually go directly towards the frontline or directly support it, ie legions of admin and managers dedicated to monitoring and reporting on the performance of others.

Do you really just accept what BNP politicians say at face value?
.

This is the problem with this debate, While I am no supporer of Nick Griffin the inference in statements like this is that the others are honest.

When will people realise that Brown is the biggest lying con man of the lot and many follow him blindly. Even as recently as Chilcott he lied to get through and then sent a letter of correction. Start with that Lying bastard before you damn his challengers

Actually, I am not inferring that other politicians are honest. I'd take it on a case to case basis, although, generally, the reputation of the current MPs serving in Parliament is rightfully low. I was asking a question about BNP politicians. See the positive statements about other politicians that you've added to my question. That's your contribution, not mine.

Griffin was asked questions about statements about the Holocaust that he has previously made and fresh ones he was making, such as the KKK being 'almost totally non-violent.'

Rigorous questioning is not bullying.

This is bullying:

If the BNP were to get into power (which they won't, this country has too much sense), before long we would be living in a One Party State, financially ruined with every decent Brit regardless of ethnicity trying to get the next boat out and Jack Boot thugs roaming the streets attacking anyone who does not fit into there pathetic remit of what a English person is!!

The one thing I wonder about the BNP's repatriation policies is where do they stop. For example, someone who is half British, half Jamacan - should they be deported? What about my Girlfriend, who is 25% Indian, 75% English. What about her Dad (50% Indian), who served for 22 years in the British Armed Forces.

Sorry, but for me it just doesn't work.

Oh, and didn't Griffin say that that Theo Walcott and Rio Ferdinand should not be elligable to play for the England football team...?
