Best players not capped by England

There's currently a thread running about Jimmy Case reminding us that he was never capped by England. The BBC re-ran the show of Worst England Team again last night and shamefully had Matt Upson in there.

However it does seem that some mediocre players get capped whereas in the past, some great players didn't. Who else do you think should have played for England who hasn't?

Although not quite within the subject parameters the fact that Geoff Thomas got 9 England caps baffles me, the fact that Matt Le Tissier only got 8 baffles me even further.

Although Steve Bull DID get capped by England, I believe while in Division 3, we never knew how good he was due to his incredible loyalty to Wolves
