Abort, retry, fail
Ah yes, not only did he score a cracker against us, but has a magnificent name straight out of the pages of a Jane Austen novel.

Ishmael DeMontagnac: part footballer, part dashing yet caddish French nobleman
:)

I would say that Asbo Ishy was possibly the best young player and will go on to great things, if he can stay on the rails. Bit of a 'one' according to my ex-flatmate (Walsall STH).

There was a mini-article in the Observer Sports Magazine on a similar topic to that. Cristiano Ronaldo was adjudged to be a perfect name for a cabin boy. Personally, with dashing good looks, pots of money, women swooning over him, I would have said he was definitely a Count (Damn my spelling).

Ah yes, I remember that. Went something like this...

Morten Gamst Pedersen- captain of the whaling ship Santa Cruz
Cristiano Ronaldo: the Santa Cruz's cabin boy
Jimmy Bullard: apple cheeked farmhand
Steed Malbranque: French adventurer imprisoned in the Chateau D'If

:lolol:

Of the current Albion team, I like Johnny Dixon best, it's the sort of footballer's name that should appear on a 1950s cigarette card collection.

Play up, Johnny!

I thought Tyson looked different class when Forest played us, along with their centre halves, who won absolutely everything in the air all day.

We never looked like getting a thing out of that game.

And Northampton's goalkeeper, Mark Bunn. Wound the Albion fans up no end after the recent game, but he was brilliant that game, solid on crosses and made various excellent saves.

I'm not sure even Wycombe fans would rate him as their best player, but you never know.

Best player in the Championship then?

Kuqi?

What PLANET are some people on?

Forster has been DECENT but best player in League One?

I have to say THORNTON it quality for Orient, Beckford for Leeds, Scotland and a couple of others at Swansea.

Hard to say who is the best as comparing how effective players are in different positions is never easy.

I would however be surprised if any of our players would make the League 1 team of the year...

for me , it is this man:

0,,10434~3341583,00.jpg

STEVEN GILLESPIE

got a fair bit of bias as i have seen him quite a lot this season. still, it is no coincidence that with him out of action in the first half of the season, cheltenham were arguably the worst team in the division. him back, and they have looked a mid table team

beats players for fun, and knows where the goal is. as calm as they come, as was indicated by his coolness in rounding kuipers in the 94th minute to score. he doesnt just net goals, but he also creates a ludicrous amount. if cheltenham stay up this year, his performances will be as vital to them as zamora was to us in the back to back titles

would be very very suprised to see him in this league next year, and would absolutely love to see him playing alongside murray and forster - that would guarantee promotion next season

And who spotted him first?(look for TSB post half-way up)http://www.northstandchat.biz/showthread.php?t=64669&highlight=sweepstake&page=3

Defenders rarely do well in this kind of poll because their contribution is typically less showy.

It's like they say - you tend to notice the defenders when things go wrong. You notice the attackers when they score.
