It was supposed to be the £1 million pound Trevor Francis, a full house waiting in anticipation to watch the star studded European champions Nottingham Forest.
Only one problem though, Lawrenson totally owned him and we were superb, finished off by one of the best goals scored at The Goldstone by Gary Williams.
What a day that was.

For those old enough, Charlie George wasn't bad as I sat on the north stand wall

Ian Rush in the FA Cup 4th round replay v Liverpool in 1991. A brilliant match.[/Q

Kenny Dalglish played at the goldstone in a 2-2 draw ,1982 ? we overran them in first half , 2-0 up ,
were then lucky to escape with a point !

Dalglish was the best I saw but surprised there's been no mention of Robin Friday - an incredible footballer. So much talent, so much waste

One of the best individual performances I can remember at the Goldstone was Ossie Ardiles for Spurs. Absolutely ran the show and scored a worldie of a free kick.

Hoddle and Ardiles were pretty awesome . But the whole Liverpool team in 1979 were just sublime.
