Thanks to You Tube I and can turn the clock back and watch the old videos from this bygone era.

Happy years in my late teens early twenties with bands like:

For me it would have to be the mid 90's, the Britpop thing that also seemed to bring together rock/pop and dance music. Before that there seemed to be genres of music that rarely colided, but in the mid 90's for me it seemed to come together. noel Gallagher recording with The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy became big(ger), Blur Pulp, Oasis and you started to see collaberations that otherwise may not have occured.
Also have to say that although I was young, the punk/new wave thing of the 77 - 81 was my first foray into music, so that was exiting.
And finally now - you no longer need to suck up to a record lable to have your music heard, its about time these bastards got their comeuppance. There's loads of great music out there now that 10 years ago may never have made it out to the public due to some snotty A&R men deciding they didn't like it therefore it was doomed

Nothing wrong with a bit of jazz from time to time, modern and acid is more my thing than trad though (although I am partial to a bit of Miles Davis from time to time). Had forgotten Madness, they were pretty good for going mental to at the village disco...never really got into U2 in a big way or Bowie for that matter.

The sixties was so revolutionary and cathartic in music with fashion, it was an expressive surge in youth culture. Everything since has been based on or influenced by that time.
The psychedelic era of 1967/68 is my favourite, but loads of brilliant bands made one or two outstanding records then disappeared, so it wasn't just about one band really.

Loads to like in music since then though, so I wouldn't say there was a dearth of talent in the medium at all.
