Kanye West?

good shout , I think his stupidity this year has somehow blocked the absolute class act he is out of alot of memories

well that or the fact the 4th Album is such a fall from Grace compared to the other three

also throw in the Enemy (two class Albums to date) and the Kaiser Chiefs (Two good and one with flashes of okishness about it)

On a point of pedantry it was one guy but I agree with you. He is a superb lyricist, and his first album serves touches you in the same way The Specials did. A superb commentary on early naughties life and culture. Weak Become Heroes is one of my fav songs of the past decade. Live, he was awful though. A shambolic tuneless and literal shower of lager.

Subsequent albums went a bit cartoon but we should not forget the lad ballad 'Dry Your Eyes'. Interestingly, I also saw them live a couple of years ago and he has evolved into a very slick and humorous entertainer.

Started out as a group at the very, very beginning, hence the group sounding name. But in terms of going mainstream, you're right, it was 'one guy'

When did you see him live?

Saw him this year at the Dome. Thought it was bloody superb. I can imagine his earlier live performances, when he was a little, well, immature, might not have been great...
