South Africa v Mexico has probably been the best game so far because of the the goals and celebration, but England v USA was an alright game aswell. It wont start to get going until all the group stages are over though i dont think.
Its the first games of the group stage, with are normally tight, low scoring affairs
Teams are more worried about not losing than trying to win because losing makes it extremely difficult to top their group and may stop them going through to the next stage, especially if a lesser nation in the group.
As teams discover what results they need in the 2nd and 3rd matches to qualify / top the group, the games will improve as a spectacle.
The first half of the Germany versus Australia game has been more entertaining than all the other games combined...considering it is a relatively young and inexperienced German side, I can see them going a very long way in the tournament playing a brand of attacking and flowing football.
The real thing we need though is a victory which involves the losing team having actually scored.
So far it has been dull draws (except opener) or dull victorys. Even the 1-0s have seemed pretty unexciting - did anyone really believe Nigeria were going to score.
Germany are looking good but the match doesn't look like it's going to be a thriller.
Having seen the Germans tonight it is now essential that we top our group. Based on the first games for us and them, their pace and movement would destroy our centre backs.
