best ipad apps

Weve just won an ipad 3 with unlimited downloads for a year so want to download some games and apps. Have my eye on shogun battles, virtua tennis and fifa 12. Will spend as bit on games but interested in free apps. FM handheld looked a bit gash.

reccomendations please!

Why would anyone want to watch Premiership goals whilst they are at the Amex?

Football Manager 2012 is awesome- Beware you may loose hours of your life and your bird and your job though as its a joke how addictive it is. Especially if you use the cheat i have found- what a geek. !

Despite "looking a bit gash", FM Handheld is very good. It's of a similar level of complexity to CM2, so is great if you find FM2012 a bit bewildering.

The two Lego Harry Potter games will probably be appreciated by the kids. If they're the puzzle sort, Machinarium and Tiny Bang Story HD are both great, charm-laden games that you can play with them (by letting them do the on-screen stuff while you help with the puzzles, or vice versa, depending on the balance of intellectual power In your household!). If you like point-and-click adventures, the iPad's well-suited to them: start with the two Broken Sword games and the Monkey Island remakes. The Hector games are great, but their Viz-style humour isn't too family friendly.

Between them, Autumn Dynasty (real-time) and Civilization Revolution (turn-based) should cover any strategy needs, but that's another area in which iOS is pretty well-served.

I find the iPad screen orientation really suits pinball games. Zen Pinball is my favourite, but Pinball Arcade is also really good, and boasts licensed classic tables.

Board games work out well too usually, I'd suggest Carcassonne to start with, or see if any of the ones based on Ranier Knizier's board games take your fancy.

A few random recommendations for the list: Spider - The Secret of Bryce Manor; Jetpack Joyride; Hard Lines; Time Ducks.

Or you could ignore all that and just get New Star Soccer, you won't need anything else for a bit! Generally, I avoid attempts to shoehorn console games onto the iPad, but those are always the first things everyone buys when the get an iOS device. They're almost never as good as the stuff designed for it.

Jetpack Joyride is really addictive (recommended above) and youve got to have ALL the angry birds too. Football manager will ruin your life coz you wont want to put it down!!!

WOW... now Ive got lots to look at . Played New Star Soccer on the pc so was annoyed to find I only get 10 games for free on ipad. I got the whole thing free on pc!!!

FM has convinced me and Jetset Jımbo has given me a whole packet... wifey very happy about tune in radio.

Love strategy and Carcassone-type games..... wonder if I can find Munchkin online.....

Finally have not found a really good Go tutor type app. Anyone know one? Specialist I know but...
