[Albion] Best individual AMEX performances

I was having a debate the other day about the best individual performance by an Albion or opposition player at the AMEX.
Am wondering what specific players others have stuck in their noggins. I'm sure some will remember performances that others don't for varying reasons.

These are the ones that came to my mind immediately for one reason or another:

- Vicente V Derby (Mar 2012) - First of all, we all remember that ridiculous run that nearly resulted in the greatest ever AMEX goal(?). Looked the best player on the pitch by a country mile in a 2-0 win. Another performance against Portsmouth also comes to mind.
The mazy run:

- Alexis Mac Allister V Leicester (Sep 2022) - I remember this more for the 2 wonder goals (plus a penalty) that included the best goal ever to be disallowed. I remember the goals more than the rest of his performance....& the fact it was Potters last game with us.
Disallowed goal: https://www.skysports.com/watch/vid...listers-controversial-disallowed-goal-debated

- Evan Ferguson V Newcastle (Aug 2023) - Similar to above, mostly remembered for the hat-trick of goals, 2 of them great finishes in the 3-1 win. Also deserves a mention for doing this at such a young age against an opponent that isn't towards the bottom of the table.

- Abdul Razak V Ipswich (Feb 2012) - A wondered signed from Man City & on his debut (a 3-0 win) he looked every bit that tag and more. Thought we were going to see something very special for the rest of the season.
Turned out I was very wrong: https://wearebrighton.com/albiondatabase/abdul-razak-from-world-class-to-woeful-in-seven-days/

- Eden Hazard for Chelsea (Jan 2018) - I'm sure I've seen this mentioned on threads before, so this will be a popular one. Ran the show as Chelsea ran away with the game, winning 4-0. Speed, pace, power. He seemed to have everything.

- Paddy McCourt for Barnsley (Dec 2013) - An unexpected 2-1 loss and the Northern Irish Messi ran the show, including a wonder goal (not so much the actual finish). We signed him soon after and he quickly faded into oblivion!
The goal:

- Olivier Giroud for Arsenal (Jan 2013) - One of the two 3-2 losses in the FA Cup. He scored 2, one a beauty and looked invincible. None of our players could get near him on the day.

I had thought Lamptey V Newcastle during Covid was at home but after looking it up, turns out it was not!

Wayne Bridge, Lewis Dunk, Yves Bissouma, Moises Caicedo, Kazenga Lua Lua, Will Buckley, Pascal Gross, Solly March and others have had great games, but none seem to have stuck in my mind more than any else, like the above.

Played like a whiney shitehouse **** for Blackburn, got sent off, then waggled his arse as he left the pitch, inviting one of us to shag him.

It was a no for me.

Outstanding performance :lolol:

Tomas Rosicky in the 3-2 FA Cup loss to Arsenal under Hughton, ran the show that day

Aren't you conflating two different events here HWT?

Colin Kazim-Richards was the Blackburn Rovers player who was ultimately found guilty of a homophobic gesture at the Amex on February 12 2013 (although he wasn't sent-off, or even booked, in the match).

El Hadji Diouf WAS sent off playing for Leeds against Albion - for celebrating his goal with a "rude gesture" - on April 27 2013 but that was at Elland Road.

The answer is and always will be Razak.

Hazard tore us a new one! - no shit, a top 10 elite world footballer came to the AMEX and was better than everyone else, simply stunning.
I guess after completely humiliating Ronaldo, the biggest AMEX regret has to be the fact we didn't do the same to Messi.

Ronaldo pooping the bed is far more noteworthy than Hazard, Courtino et al, actually playing to form.

Razak turned up at the AMEX with little to no fanfare played everyone off the pitch then seemingly completely disappeared.

Hazard, Coutinho, Razak and Vicente all mentioned and definitely stand outs.

But this little chap owned the place for not just 1 game but a season and a half. I remember coming back from this game thinking he was incredible

Hazard by a country mile.

The overhead kick up the Norff end gives Obika a shout for that alone.

Glenn Murray vs Man Utd in our second PL season surely worth a mention?

I was there, and it was right in front of me. He scored a penalty from a foul by Calderon. He grabbed his dick at us. Fourth official told the ref. Straight red card. We then went and got the late winner (I think it was an Ulloa header? Maybe Hemed)

As far as Albion performances go, I’m going with Vicente against Derby purely on the basis that he was playing at a comparative Ballon d’or level compared to everyone around him playing non league.

Outrageously talented footballer.

Mentioning the Giroud performance in this line-up feels a bit like after timing as his career had a significant renaissance long after his expected prime. On that day, he was undoubtedly very good and his goal from the edge of the area was indeed top quality. But I felt at the time we had coped with him quite well all game until he did that.

That game was also notable for it being Ulloa's debut just as we were all getting a bit sick of the labrador being a bit shit. When CMS eventually came on as a late sub, he theatrically flopped looking for an equalising penalty when otherwise well placed. I turned round to @hans kraay fan club and we both immediately acknowledged that if that chance had fallen to Leo or even Barnes, they'd have just shrugged off the defender and smashed it in. I know he scored a couple of great goals, but I still get pissed off when I think of CMS.

For an opp player, and I'm still not quite sure this actually happened, I'll chuck in Dwight McNeil scoring two goals and an assist in that 5-1 drubbing. It was a brilliant individual performance.
Ha. Yes he was great in that game. And Calvert Lewin who was resurrected like Jesus christ himself for one single game to play like Batistuta against us before returning to injury.

David Marshall for Cardiff against us back in August 2012. A 0-0 draw and there could've been another 90 minutes and we wouldn't have scored against him.

Worst part is he did it again in 2014 when we drew 1-1 and had even more shots.
