Chas n Dave in the tent next to the kids field, pretty much every year (although not any more)

They absolutely rocked the shit out of the place in the middle of the afternoon...

went along to take the piss out of lenny kravitz and he totally blew me away, was the tightest band i have ever seen in my life. I think the whole crowd went along to take the piss but were all won over. Highlight was my mate being on my shoulders in let love rule and lenny shouted "Glastonbury do we want to let love rule?" after the inital crowd roar of "yyyeeessss" my mate shouted in the following split second silence "dont know, what are the hours?" at which point he fell off my shoulders as i collapsed with laughter.

How soon is now?
Also saw the Darkness open on the Friday am in 2002. Justin Hawkins in full cat suit regalia came running on, his opening line was "Delivering rock before breakfast", it was hilarious - a cracking start to the weekend.

I mentioned it to his brother a few years later and he just looked embarrassed, not sure why - he was happy to cream off the $$'s as they came rolling in at the time

Broke my Glastonbury duck last year and the best set I saw was Neil Young, great to see a legend live up to his billing. I'd give an honourable mention to White Lies in the John Peel tent, that was a cracking set.

The White Lies did a stonking cover of Dancing in the Dark.

Glasto 2005.

The Valkyries descended on Glastonbury on Sunday as the English National Opera roused tired festival-goers with a groundbreaking performance.

Bound up: The English National Opera performs Wagner at Glastonbury
It was the first time opera had been performed at the festival, with thousands of fascinated revellers gathering in front of the main Pyramid stage for the event.

Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries tells of the mythical women who carried dead heroes to heavenly Valhalla.

Storm clouds gathered overhead on Sunday, enhancing the opera's tense atmosphere as Brunnhilde is hunted down.

The 75-minute long extract opened with the section of the opera familiar to fans of the film Apocalypse Now, its lyrics sung in English and subtitled at the side of the stage to make it widely accessible

F**k me yes. I saw this as well. Immense stuff. I recall reading the orchestra were bowled over by the overall response and the request for an encore but hadnt planned one.... and reluctantly had to walk off stage.

Tricky in 1990-something on the jazz stage (i think). fecking awesome set, was off my tits and a firework display started in the distance behind the stage about halfway through. it's times like that which make you appreciate how good drugs can be when in the right hands.

oh and PJ Harvey...same year....i fell in love with her in her pink catsuit.

I just remembered the legendary set which Primal Scream did 3-4 years back. I think they were on before headliners Basement Jaxx. Anyway, Bobby Gillespie slurred and staggered his way through his set hurling abuse at various other artists, and Israel, mumbling on about how he 'arrived in a helicopter' himself. He threw a few Hitler salutes and then refused to leave the stage. With the rest of the band having left, the power was pulled and Bobby was literally dragged off by security.

The best bit was a few days later when he justified his erratic behaviour by saying he'd done speed for the preceding 24 hours and anyone else would have been the same. quality.

I remember it well. The weekend had been wet but it dried up on the Sunday. I had 'overdone' it a bit and was lying on the floor near the back when someone walked passed dragging a ten foot long crucifix.

Orbital 94 was great, Ritchie Hawtin did a great set too, after a cheeky DJFood set. Spearhead- the year they opened on Pyramid Friday, afternoon NME saturday and finished the Jazzworld field sunday- saw the satdee set- immense, great crowd participation, Dreadzone and Zion Train the same afternoon too.
Ozric Tentacles/ Curve/ The Shamen was a great evening of lysergic fun, with stretchy doughnuts and circus folk.
Finding Banco De Gaia in Avalon Field late one night, which was later released on CD.
Basically, went 4 times in the mid 90's, and just had one hell of a time- and then I had children...

Nearly forgot, Johnny Cash feel very honoured to have seen him live, and allegedly one of his favourite concerts.

Blur. Last year.

Really?

I like Blur but thought their set was pony. No one wants to see a grown man cry!

One of the highlights for me was stumbling across this lot whilst heading back to HQ at 1am. Being ripped to the tits and hearing someone sing about Quincy was a very bizarre but funny experience. They are playing this year as well so go and check them out you folk that are going.

Groove Armada 2002 was awesome.

Prodigy main stage (can't remember which year) absolutely stormed the place too.

Different strokes, I guess. I wasn't a fan at all and thought they'd be rubbish, but I thought they were stunning. Honestly.
Also, Tommy Sparks at the Queen's Head was fantastic. And Steel Pulse at Jazz World.
Glasvegas and Kasabian were the biggest disappointments for me.
