1-3 down from the first leg, Fulham concede very early (1-4), and need to climb a mountain to progress...

They score three in reply to level the aggregate scores...

With about three minutes to go until extra time, Clint Dempsey clips in an acute-angle chip over the keeper and into the far corner, to nick it 5-4 and bring the house down...

And I was about ten rows back, just to the left of the goal...

Argentina Brazil friendly this June. Argentina won 4-3 and Messi got a hat trick. Incredible experience and atmosphere considering it was played in an NFL stadium, even the Brazilian fans were cheering when Messi got the third.

My brother in law and i used to share saturdays between Brighton and Arsenal, went to many great games at Highbury but for emotion it was this goal to win the league and scored by a great player (with a hangover as well)

Everton 3 West Ham 1, final game of the season for both to decide 2nd spot after Liverpool had nicked the League at Chelsea, Gary Lineker's last game in England (he scored I think), really tense atmosphere, West ham went 1-0 up fropm a Sturat Slater mazy run and fisnish, rocket (firework) missed my head by a foot fired from the Everton corner at the seats above the awy paddock - looked behind me to see Kaz an co' who it was presumably aimed at. Great game, lot's of stories and memories....

Lineker's last game was actually a few days later when he scored in the 3-1 FA Cup Final defeat by Liverpool: [yt]Cnzygo1nkoY[/yt]

2 days before the West Ham game, I saw him score a hat trick when Everton beat Southampton 6-1, the only time I've been to Goodison Park. Peter Shilton was not in the Southampton side for some reason but Jimmy Case was.

Growing up, my dad used to look at the fixture list in the paper each saturday and say "son have you ever been to ........." then he would give me a brief history lesson to whatever club we would end up that day. Anyway Dec 84, Pompey were at home to Oxford Utd a top of the table clash in the old 2nd division. he gave me a history lesson about Pompey, what great support, working class town etc and the opposition oxford utd who were one of the best footballing teams around at the time. ( oxford were a great cup team, who beat the albion a season or two previously )

Anyway we turned up that day and it was pissing down like you would never believe and took our place on a packed Fratton end. The atmosphere was electric, and i have to admit, " the chimes " sounded awesome.

Oxford scored early in the first half and were by far the better team,playing great football on a proper 80's mud pile of a pitch. 0 - 1 half time.

The 2nd half was all Oxford until with about 10 minutes to go, someone dressed in a santa outfit invaded the pitch which changed the whole atmosphere in the ground!iIt went absolutley mental, noise like you would never believe. Alan Biley came on as sub and scored two fantastic headers to win the game in injury time. Pure Bedlam.

I always bring the game up with Pompey fans i meet, and they all remember it! The games gone down in the clubs folklaw.

Spain v Yugoslavia Euro 2000 in Brugges.

Spain 3-2 down, equalised in 90th and won it 4-3 in 93rd. Firecrackers, streakers the lot!!

I saw Zinedine Zidane put on the best individual performance I have ever seen in a brilliant match at Euro 2000 when France beat Spain in the quarter final in Bruges.
He was absolutely fantastic.

France's bid to add the continental championship to their global crown continued in Bruges – but were made to work by Spain, who squandered a glorious late chance to force extra time when Raúl González sent a penalty over the bar.

Zinédine Zidane set Les Bleus on their way just after the half-hour, atoning for an earlier miss with a stunning free-kick. Gaizka Mendieta's penalty restored parity but France were back in front before the interval after a superb run from Patrick Vieira was capped with an even better finish from Youri Djorkaeff.

Back came Spain, chipping away until with a minute to go Fabien Barthez hauled down Abelardo and referee Pierluigi Collina pointed to the spot. Mendieta had been replaced, however, so Raúl stepped up only to miss. There was still time for substitute Ismael Urzaiz to head over the crossbar as France held on to set up a semi-final date with Portugal.

Roger Lemerre's side had begun brightly, content to allow Spain to boss possession in return for having the better of the chances. Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry had already gone close when, on the quarter-hour, Didier Deschamps turned Josep Guardiola deep inside the Spain half and crossed for Christophe Dugarry; the striker's committed header went over the bar.

The lively Dugarry did test Cañizares after a slick one-two with Djorkaeff, while at the other end Raúl forced Barthez into some frantic back-pedalling with an audacious lob after noticing the goalkeeper off his line. Zidane was then presented with a golden chance to open the scoring when he ghosted into the area unchallenged to meet Dugarry's low pass, only to mis-kick.

He soon made up for it, spearing a right-footed shot into the top corner after Agustín Aranzabal had impeded Djorkaeff. Six minutes later it was all-square as Menideta converted from the spot after Lilian Thuram had brought down Pedro Munitis, but back came France. Djorkaeff restored their lead in some style, rifling past Santiago Cañizares from ten metres.

The onus in the second half was on Spain, but they were restricted to an early Alfonso Pérez opening, long-range efforts from Guardiola and one desperate goalmouth scramble. With Spain's semi-final hopes drifting away, Barthez gave them a lifeline a minute from time; only for Raúl to throw it back

I have only seen two "big" games apart from those involving the Albion. Early 1970's went with a friend and his Aunt and Uncle to see Manchester City v Stoke at Maine Road in the First Division (youngsters may need a grown up to explain what that was). Big day for him - first time he had ever seen his beloved City play other than on TV, they lost 2 - 1!

Fast forward to early '90's. Went on work jolly organised by the Spurs and West Ham fans in the office to see these teams play at White Hart Lane - toward the end of season, nothing to play for game (WHU probably already relegated). Saw Lineker play, was completely anonymous and did nothing all game apart from get a hat trick without seeming to try.

That's right Carlisle made a very good start to life in Division 1,winning 2-0 at samford bridge early on

This game was played on August 31st 1974 and it ended in a 1-1 draw

Sadly Carlisle were relegated at the end of the season along with Chelsea and Luton Town,how things change in football!
