I'm just waiting for someone to say Japan v South Africa...

Oh, they already have.

Did anyone attend the Olympics match at the Goldstone in 1948 between Afghanistan and Luxembourg?*

(*this did actually happen).

The Amex - 4-0 v United.
The Goldstone - Sheff Weds 3-2 to win promotion, although one of the actual best games I remember was a defeat - 2-3 against Wolves in the FA Cup in the snow.
I remembered that Wolves game whilst thinking about best matches I've seen. Was in the North with my dad and standing next to a Wolves fan!

Chelsea 4-1 demolition just after Potter and his fellow turncoats did a bunk.... the irony, the atmosphere, the look on the faces of Potter, Cucurella and Bruno.... delicious.

Lawro's goal was amazing but I also remember the last 10-15 minutes when we absolutely battered their goal but just couldn't get an equaliser, their keeper producing worldies etc. Sounds strange, but it was such a good game I didn't mind that much we'd lost - after all, that season was all about concentrating on the league and getting promoted.

Brighton factually.....
Personally my favourites are, based on games I went to, sadly I missed out on a few crackers.

1: Doncaster 1st game, tears of joy at the return and tears of joy as Buckley slammed in the winner in the dying moments.
2: Beating Marseille and Pedro ran towards me and my daughter and jumped into the crowd right in front of us, something I could not have ever envisaged celebrating finishing top of a European group of death with my daughter.
3: Mitoma's last minute excellent finish against Liverpool in the FA Cup, the north stand erupted in joy again celebrating with my daughter.
4: The annellation of Palace 4-1
5: Japan's Victory over the South Africans, the atmosphere and last minute try was something a bit special and you could drink in your seat all adding to the occasion.

That Liverpool game is very high up there for me. Not least as it was my second attempt at getting my nephew to like Football. The first was earlier that season, a 3-0 home defeat against Burnley in the pouring rain. Safe to say the Mitoma goal got him hooked on the Albion and made amends for the previous time!

For me, it was the 2-1 win over Sheff Wed. Friday night under the lights and had just lost Murray and conceded a penalty which if scored would have put is 2-1 down. We turned this around and we ended the game 2-1 with one more player than them. This was when I knew something quite magiical was happening.

So true. Complete tosh.

For me was City at home last season. We were f***ing brilliant. As good as the best team in Europe. Never seen a Brighton team play as well as they did that day. Truely elite.
I took a Saints supporting mate to that game with me. He was genuinely stunned at how good we were.

He’s coming again tonight. I’m not expecting the same.

Agree with England Spain, also with my Granddaughter & Daughter.
The SA v Japan rugby was loud.
But personally Man City in lockdown. Lucky to be there, lost my mind, lost my voice, on the phone to my mum as that winning goal went in. That is my best game.
From there the list is endless with Europe, Chelsea, Wigan etc etc.

Same.

That game also had the Stockdale double save from a penalty.

That game really had everything.
I thought it would be a very disappointing night, I didn’t fancy our chances for some reason.

Hostile crowd, under the lights, Knocky putting us 1 up, then the pivotal moment, Murray’s handball, ( still not convinced) and sending off, Forrestari’s abysmal penalty, Stockdale saving it, then the quite brilliant save from the follow up.
It would have given them the lead, but, instead it seemed to really knock their confidence.

Knockys winner in the last 5 minutes, their no9 falling for Stephens windup, and getting a red , then the hatchet job on March, should have been a straight red, it could have been a career ending foul.

Them down to 9, and the Amex in dreamland.

What a game, what a night.

You've got your seasons mixed up. The 0-3 defeat to Burnley was in Feb 22 and Potter was in charge. We had Duffy and Veltman at CB!

The Liverpool 2-1 FA Cup win was last season (about a year later) with RDZ in charge.
