errrr, 1999. back in Brighton, Hometown boy scores hat-trick in BHA 6-0 win. Lovely sunny day. Doesn't take 4 hours to travel to a home game. Nice ice cream at half time. What could be better???????

It was even better than the first game at the Amex, and that's saying something!!!!!!

Toss up between first at Withers and first at Amex. Can't decide between the two.

Seeing as the best BHAFC match of all time also happened to be on the first day of the season, this is a bit of a pointless question!

As a match, that Donnie game wasn't a classic by any means. Dramatic ending of course, but overall it can't really be described as the best BHAFC match of all time. It was brilliant, but not because of the football !

Of course, the football was shit. But it would still have been the best BHAFC match of all time even if it had finished 1-1.

In those terms, that Doncaster game was second only to Hereford for me. It came close, but I don't think anything will ever top that feeling at the final whistle at Edgar Street.

[edit]

But that was, of course, the LAST game of the season and so has no place in this thread.

Ignore me. Go on.

August 1977, BHA 3 Miillwall 2, Millwall led 2-0 at halftime. Chucked with rain, it was the last season before proper away fan segregation and F-Troop were not happy.

Not the best but I recall a first match of the season v Pompey around 85 ? It was Mullerys first game back in charge, think the game was 0-0 with the most exciting bit being a dust up with mullery and Alan ball

Apart from the more obvious ones, I thought after we beat Chester City 2-1 in the last ever season at the Goldstone that the basement division was going to be easy and the sides were going to be very poor; how naive. Despite all the off-field problems at the time George Parris hit a stunner that went in off the crossbar and it was a baking hot day.
