Having listened to a lot of their material recently I find this a very tough call.

'Music for the Masses' by a country mile, the only one I've heard* that doesn't fall victim to the 'three or four good songs then mostly filler' thing that DM do so well :)

*none since 'Exciter', which didn't seem to even have the 'three or four'.

Violator for me but from music for the masses to songs of faith and devotion was certainly their golden period, three great albums

Ooh LOVELY thread. They do make a stunning Best Of...

I don't think it's best but I tell you what, Playing The Angel is MASSIVELY underrated. Precious and Suffer Well should both sit comfortably in their top 10 best ever songs, and Suffer Well is glorious live.

totally this with big brass bells.

not only Dm's finest album at the Peak of their brilliance, but one of the best live albums ever. love violator and went to world violation gig at Wembley arena, as good as that was it's incomparable to 101 from the pasadena rose bowl. oh to have been there

A difficult choice but what I will say is Ultra is very very underrated.

Another positive comment for 101. That's a document of a band at their absolute peak live. I was also at the Wembley show and it remains one of my favourite gigs over the years.

Random fact, one of the “bus kids” from this film now co-owns a French oyster bar a few blocks from where I live.
