The United Kingdom of Mile Oak
1984/5 away to Grimsby on a Tuesday night, last away match of the season, and needed to win to keep remote promotion hopes alive.

Two nil down after 78 minutes, and the DOZENS of us who were there in a crowd of 4,034 were feeling a bit forlorn.

Cometh the moment cometh Hans KRAAY, who got what we thought was a consolation, Alan Biley then equalised with six minutes to go, and the once stalked by you know who Terry Connor then scored two breakaway goals in the 88th and 92nd minute to give us a totally undeserved, but memorable, 4-2 win.

You beat me to it!

I remember being at Boys Brigade that evening (the one and only time I went!) and knew that Brighton were 2-0 with around 10 minutes to go and then going home and finding out we had won and scored 4 goals in the last 10...Hans Kraay...What a legend!

Wasn't that the season we also had Worthington, Mortimer and Wilson in our midfield? what a great team we had then.

And I got beaten up outside after when we were ambushed on the way back to the car, and not forgetting Guppy, Chopper and the Brothers memorable entrance to the ground from the train

There was a Colchester game at Gillingham, were i think we were 3 - 0 down and ended up drawing the game 4-4.

The Leeds game a couple of seasons ago was great too, CMS had a stormer that night.

That's mine - I think it was Boxing Day 1997. Got back to 3-3, then conceded again to make it 3-4. We equalised in the last 5 or so minutes with what looked like a joke of a penalty.

Yep, Boxing Day 1997. Young rookie called Paul something on loan from Charlton got a 2nd half hatrick when we were 3 nil down at HT. I remember wondering why the heck I was there. Boxing Day. 150 miles from home when I knew we were awful, the 2nd worse pro team in England. Thank Christ for donny that year...!!

What the hell was I doing going to a game on Boxing day. Great second half, one of my stand out memories from that era.

That and wishing someone would break in and paint the seats white so it read the goals along the new stand. (I was young and could dream).

Ipswich away under Barry Lloyd. They were flying high. We weren't.
1-0. 1-1. 2-1. 2-2. 2-3.

How about beating Tottenham 2-1 back in April 1983 Gatting & Ryan. I think we were down to 10 men! I recall listening on Radio whilst on holiday at Butlins!

100% this, plus don't forget the greeting from the locals afterwards.

Sunderland at home think 1982, seem to recall 2-0 down first half and won 3-2 maybe someone can confirm have some doubt?

Correct, Tony Grealish (RIP) scored the winner, the others were from Gordon Smith and Gerry Ryan.

Honourable mention too for the 3-3 draw at home to Liverpool, when Jimmy Case scored two, including the only time I ever saw him head the ball.

Yup, horrid place. I also remember the 2-2 draw there which relegated us to League 1 about ten years ago. It was a Sunday afternoon game, lots went up there on the Saturday and stayed over. Big mistake, not sure the fishy odour in the nightclubs was from the Findus factory or poor personal hygiene from what passes for females up there *shudder*

Through the mists of time I seem to remember standing in a very cold Coventry City stadium (around 1980).
3-0 down with about 15 to go, and we got a point.
Or maybe I just dreamt it :)

Millwall game under Mullery. The 1st game after being promoted when he made the players stay on the pitch at half-time 2-0 down and came back to 3-2.

So were they. Ramsey got sent off with one of theirs. All happened in last few mins, including our 2 goals! Remember it well.

3-1 down at home to Bournemouth, drawing 3-3.

Ian Chapman, IIRC, with a screamer. North Stand went hatstand.

Was during Brady's honeymoon period.. we had some belting games around this time. Matt Edwards opened the scoring and Chappers scored in about the 88th minute, before Paul McCarthy equilised in inury time..

The next home game was similar as we beat Blackpool 3-2 - Nogan winning it in injury time

Millwall game under Mullery. The 1st game after being promoted when he made the players stay on the pitch at half-time 2-0 down and came back to 3-2.

Good memory, that was a fantastic 2nd half after the players were turned back by Mullery as they tried to go down the tunnel at halftime and wandered around the pitch looking sheepish during the half time break. Was that the surgical masks on Millwall fans in the North Stand game?

I have no idea if it was the 1st game after promotion though, can't remember that at all. Not disagreeing btw.

Right here, right now
Not a LATE comeback, but I also enjoyed the Forest game at Withdean, where we were 1-0 down, and scored 2 goals in what seemed like the space of about 45 seconds, to win it. (Hammond and Nick Ward).

The last time a Ward scored for Brighton.

Paul Emblen - the only game I went to at Gillingham, and what a game! I wondered why I was there at half time, but what a 2nd half.

I recall an away game in about 1988 when we came from 1 down away to Blackpool to win 3-1 in th last few minutes. I think Nelson scored 2 including a screamer and Crumplinm got the other.

I wasn't at the game, but Blackpool sold a full match video tape with commentary which I watched with mates soon after. The commentary was suitable biased, so that when the 3rd went it in about the 5th minute of stoppage time they exclaimed "there is no justice!".

It was first home game of the season and it chucked with rain all afternoon. Great win, but in terms of drama, the Eric Potts supersub v Sunderland was better.
